The Cambridge Curry Center has been around since the 60s. The restaurant has two sections—the main room and a party room downstairs. The former provides a cosy atmosphere, while the latter is ideal for large parties. If you're a curry fan, you'll love it here. Meat-eaters and vegetarians are both well catered to and in addition to the usual fare, there's a myriad of sundries and a selection of English meals.

Maharajah

+44 1223 35 8399 The Maharajah is often considered the best of the three curry houses on Castle Street. The restaurant's decor is a cut above the rest and its food is delicious. All the usual suspects are here: tandoori, korma, balti, rogan josh, madras and vindaloo (all with vegetarian versions). For those of you who fancy a starter, or a side dish, there's plenty of choice too: bhaji, a myriad of naans, chapati, poppadums and much more to whet your appetite.

Star of India

+44 1223 31 2569 The Star of India completes the trio of curry houses on Castle Hill, the Cambridge Curry Centre and the Maharajah being the other two establishments in this neck of the woods. Inside, The Star of India isn't quite as up-market as the Maharajah, but you'll still be able to relax in the surroundings. The Star attracts a varied clientele, but is particularly popular with students. If the restaurant is not too busy then you'll be in for a pleasant night out, but if it is jam-packed then you may find that the service is occasionally hurried. The Star of India provides all styles of curry. Hot, cold, non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks are available.

Tandoori Palace

+44 1223 50 6055 Established in 1995, the Tandoori Palace is run by the Miah family who also own the Taste of Bangladesh on Newmarket Road, and the Kohinoor on Mill Road. House specials are well recommended and include the Palace special, which is a particularly tasty assortment of tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, lamb tikka and chicken kebab all cooked in onions, green peppers, garlic, ginger, a thick sauce and served with special rice. Starters range from dhal soup and tomato to king prawn butterfly. Beers, wines and spirits, as well as soft drinks are all available to help wash down your meal. And the atmosphere is suitably relaxed, too, allowing you to make the most of your meal in the pleasant surroundings.
