After you leave here, you might long for the days when you could actually have visited the real thing. It seems that a 1940s nightclub has been on-and-off in the works in Chicago for years, but this club finally opened at Pipers Alley in Old Town. Singer Celeste Holme fronts a 16-piece band as you sip cocktails and buy cigarettes from the cigarette girl. This is an experience not readily had anywhere else in the country so it's worth a visit, if for no other reason then to dig big band. Review © 2009, Wcities |
