A must for architecture buffs |
1365 North Astor Street Chicago, IL 60610 +1 312 915 0105 |
This building, designed in 1891 by Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright, serves as the headquarters for the Society of Architectural Historians. Wright called it the "first modern house in America." One of his first commissions as a junior draftsman, the house bears many of the traits that became trademarks of his design style. Tours are $5 on Wednesdays and $9 on Saturdays. The museum offers a walking tour of Astor Street. Review © 2009, Wcities |
