Billing itself as the first artist-created gallery in the country, The Contemporary Art Workshop was established in 1960 by John Kearney. Outdoor sculpture by gallery favorites Leon Golub, Cosmo Campoli, Ray Fink and Al Kwitz can be seen throughout Lincoln Park. Kearney contributes the brunt of the exhibitions, though the gallery also hosts such talents as June Leaf, Leon Golub, Seymour Rosofsky and Robert MacCauley. Past displays included works by sculptors Monica Balc-Giff and Young-Suk Yoo. The gallery's workshop offers classes, gallery space and studios for aspiring artists. Review © 2009, Wcities |
