There are 70 names listed on this 72-foot by 15.5-foot mural on the building at 312 West Huron. In the words of the creator, Chicago artist Adam Brooks, the work "represent[s] the idea of freedom in all its potential interpretations." The mural is black vinyl with white enamel lettering. According to the Jan-Feb 1995 issue of Dialogue magazine, it is meant fuse "minimalism and the linguistic interests of postmodernism" in order to expose the contradictions between the commerce of art and freedom of cultural expression. Brooks is a featured artist at the Rhona Hoffman Gallery at 312 North May Street. Review © 2009, Wcities |
