Up in Lakeview, there is only once place to go if you have a hankering for hand-cut fries and real milk shakes. For many years now, the family-run Lakefront has been serving fresh food at good prices. Sit outside in the summer and watch the people rush by on Broadway as you sip your delicious split pea soup, which has to be the best in the city. The recipe is the owner's mom's - no kidding. It is thick, creamy, filled with chunks of ham, and served with croutons so good you wonder how you ever lived without them.
