By sculptor Alison Saar |
2620 South King Dr Chicago, IL 60616 |
This moving sculpture is located on the circular median on King Drive and 26th Place. Created by Alison Saar, and dedicated on September 10, 1996, the 15-foot tall bronze figure was erected to commemorate the thousands of African-Americans who came north after the Civil War. The male figure carries a briefcase in one hand and waves into the distance with the other, and is surrounded by 16 sculpture bollards. Review © 2009, Wcities |
