Get rid of your blues |
4655 Martin Luther King Drive Chicago, IL 60653 United States +1 773 536 6000 |
This hip American joint is the perfect place to leave troubles behind and unwind. The razzmatazz-splashed interiors, interesting lighting, and contemporary menu makes sure the place is crowded. Chef Blackmon's splendid food creations melt in the mouth and the house beverages are uplifting. Additionally, jazz performances and DJs are a regular feature. Private party facilities are available and so is parking. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Located near a library, this French restaurant becomes the perfect place for a meal after a session of prose and poetry. The rustic setting, with furniture from France, will surely put you in a good mood. Expect braised hare, roasted duck, mussels and pate done to perfection by Chef Chiappetti. Don't miss the peach crepes, which are a good option for dessert or the vintage wine collection, which ranges from $28-$300. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This place has been around for more than 20 years, and is the Englewood area's only neighborhood nightclub. The selection of dance themes varies and is organized to accommodate everything from urban funk for the younger crowd to tango for the older folks. The club also sponsors live acts with just as wide a range, from rhythm and blues to country western. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Where Fun Comes To Drink |
1212, East 59th Street Ida Noyes Hall Basement Chicago, IL 60637 United States +1 773 702 9737 http://studentactivities.uchic... |
Whoever said that University of Chicago students don't know how to enjoy themselves has never been to the Ida Noyes basement. Seven-dollar Miller Lite and Sapporo pitchers abound (along with 21 tap beers, over 100 bottled beers, and various wines), students gather round oak tables to unwind. More active bargoers enjoy pool and foosball tables, and the jukebox offers a good mix of classic rock and '80s music. For University of Chicago students, a small annual membership fee ($5) gets free entry. But hey, it's worth it: you could be throwin' a few back with the next Milton Friedman. -Ruthie Kott Review © 2007, Wcities |

Intellectual conversations and grease |

The Woodlawn Tap, known for its late owner, Jimmy, is a Hyde Park institution. Students from the venerable University of Chicago are known to flock here, before, after, and sometimes even during classes. Don't leave without trying one of Jimmy's famous cheeseburgers, and make sure to eavesdrop on some of the interesting (and decidedly out-of-place) conversations. Saul Bellow and Dylan Thomas are rumored to have drunk here. Jimmy's features live jazz on Sunday nights. Review © 2007, Wcities |
