50 Yard Line Bar and Grille

Get on the line at this unusual sports bar
69 East 75th Street
Chicago, IL 60619-1646
United States
+1 773 846 0005
This is a sports bar, but not exclusively so. Jeans, gym shoes and skull caps are banned after 9pm, and people hit the dance floor for step dancing, a contemporary dance popular with the clientele. If you are not into the dancing, you may want to sit back and observe the action from the skybox. But, if you are only here to watch the game, this bar will not disappoint. The five television sets are always tuned to the event of the day. You can sample from a menu that includes Chicken Wings, Perch and Popcorn Shrimp.

http://www.beatkitchen.com
A slightly under rated place to have a drink in Roscoe Village, the patrons here belong in the suburbs and act like they are just visiting the city for the night. The food here is a standard mini-pizza for $6 and when you are done, you can hoof it to the back room to watch a band play for a small or sometime not so small cover of between $3 and $8. But check the calendar because this place books every garage band in town. Pared down to its essentials, this is somewhere to go for inconspicuous crowd watching.

While the rest of Chicago's bars are closing their doors and sweeping up, Burton Place is still a bustle of late-night activity. It has long established itself as a favorite local hangout, and draws a wide clientele who pack the bar every night of the week. Though the main level can be overstuffed at times, there are two others that tend to be a bit mellower, offering billiards and other dive-bar fun. With a laid-back staff and prompt service, Burton Place is a popular place to catch a game and share a pint with friends. Also be sure to check out the pub-grub menu, as many regulars would argue that the ribs and burgers are the best around.

What to say about this raucous, noisy, Wrigleyville institution? How about this: squeeze your way in after a Cubs game and join fellow fans as they whine about how God-awful-rotten the team is. If you do not like sports, stop by on the weekend when the place is even more packed with people jumping up and down to the sound of live rock music. Cubby Bear is huge. It is noisy. Tavern on Rush

Upscale Rush Street sports bar
1031 North Rush Street
Chicago, IL 60611-1227
United States
+1 312 664 9600
http://www.tavernonrush.com/
Even though it's right in the thick of the Rush Street action, this bar and grill manages to retain a more intimate, informal atmosphere than the other places nearby. Downstairs is the comfortable bar with TVs tuned in to sporting events. A fairly good restaurant can be found upstairs, serving steaks, chops and pizzas cooked in a wood-burning oven. There is a separate smoking section in the restaurant and otherwise smoking is restricted to the bar.

If you are a sports fan, prepare to gawk while your tongue lolls in the dust. There are no less than 30, yes 30, television sets blazing in this place, hooked up to enough satellite dishes to give the bar the look of some kind of intergalactic flying machine. It also has pool tables and dart boards for between-game breaks and chicken wings, nachos, burgers and other food selections to keep the alcohol from overtaking your brain.

Wicker Park Tavern

Hip Neighborhood Pub
1958 West North Avenue
Chicago, IL
United States
+1 773 278 5138
Though often advertised as something of a sports bar, this tavern serves up a much loftier atmosphere. The leather chairs and hardwood floors give it a lounge-like feel, so you may feel more inclined to sip wine than chug beer. With all of this said, it is a popular spot for a night out in Wicker Park, and as it is open until 4am, your night out can last even longer. Its devoted patrons can enjoy an expansive selection of music from the corner jukebox, or catch updates on the latest game on the multiple big-screen TVs throughout the room. If hunger strikes, they also serve up lunch, dinner, and pub-grub until 10pm.

X-66 Nightclub

Mellow sports nightclub
2811 West 63rd St
Chicago, IL 60629
United States
+1 773 778 6610
When you stroll into this sports nightclub, you will be greeted by pop rock thumping out of the cranked jukebox while people mill about playing video darts and bowling, often yelling and heckling each other in a drunken stupor. This is a great place to get some drinking done before plunging into the revelry with a game of pool or diving into a burger or two.

Average cost per person: US $ 10 No booking necessary.

Yak-Zies

Friendly, neighborhood sports bar
3710 North Clark St
Chicago, IL 60613
United States
+1 773 525 9200
This bar has 34 television sets, four of them large screen. Burgers. Pizza. Buffalo wings. Beer. You guessed it - this is a sports bar, and if you are frequenting a sports bar, you may as well do it right by coming to this teeming, sweaty, honest-as-it-gets local beer joint. Neighborhood folk congregate here to watch the Cubs game while all the suburbanites hang out at the Cubby Bear down the street. Be forewarned, though - it gets packed before and after Cub games. Delivery, takeout, and party packages are also available.
