Unidentifiable Chicago landmark |
50 West Washington Boulevard Richard J. Daley Plaza Civic Center Chicago, IL 60602 |
This famous Chicago statue arrived in Chicago in 1967. Today, it stands as stately as ever in Civic Center Plaza (now the Richard J. Daley Plaza Civic Center). Ironically, Picasso never set foot in either Chicago or America. The statue was executed from a 42-inch model made by the artist. Weighing in at 162 tons and stretching to 50-feet tall, it is as enigmatic as its creator. Is it a lion? A mythical beast? Simply a hodgepodge of metal? Come and decide for yourself.
