Now a trendy neighborhood with converted condos and young professionals who enjoy the proximity to the Loop, Printers Row was so named in the 1890s when it served as a publishing headquarters that rivaled New York. While the presses have long since moved, the annual book fair is a reminder of that era, and is a highlight for Chicago's literary community. More than 170 venders sell new, used and antique books in this outdoor street fair. In addition, the fair sponsors several poetry readings, panel discussions and workshops. Review © 2009, Wcities
