The restaurant also offers a large range of appetizers, bento boxes for lunch and dinner, noodle dishes and some standard tempura/teriyaki options. This sushi bar and restaurant has all the offerings of a typical sushi place, but Coast is a favorite among locals for its delicious selection and atmosphere. Coast is decorated minimally, but still provides a sexy atmosphere with low lighting that is ideal for dates. The B.Y.O.B. policy is a hit with customers and many take advantage of this with their meals. The menu includes Japanese standards made to perfection with the highest quality of ingredients and also a sushi menu that will satisfy any sushi-lover or sushi-first timer. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Authentic Japanese cuisine |
160 East Ontario Street Chicago, IL 60611 United States +1 312 280 8808 |
This is a very serious manifestation of the sushi establishment, dressed with all the style and grace of old Japanese customs. Hatsuhana prides itself on freshness, and food is prepared with lightning speed, but be forewarned, high price tags accompany the food. If you are willing to shell out the cash, you will get a tremendous meal with some of the best sushi in town. These chefs definitely know what they are doing. Try the maguro (tuna) or hamachi (yellowtail), but stay away from the American hybrid dishes. You came here for sushi, right? There is also a separate bar for sake sippers, but it also offers your usual assortment of beers, wines and spirits. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Stop by at Heat for some delicious Japanese food. Expert chefs prepare sushi platters, which are very different from the ones served at ordinary sushi bars. Guests can choose the kind of fish they wish to have from the restaurant's very own aquarium. Also, the friendly staff and the elegant interiors deserve a special mention. If you happen to come here on the last Thursday of the month, you can enjoy the complimentary sake tasting from 6p onwards. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This popular and sophisticated eatery features a variety of traditional and westernized offerings. Seafood specials highlight the menu for savvy sushi lovers. For the more timid, plenty of chicken or beef choices are available or try the Windy City roll, cooked tuna, mayo, cucumber and avocado. Tempura and teriyaki are also favorites. Dress is casual and so is the service. But the price is right, at less than $15 per person for dinner. Reservations are not necessary, but expect a short wait on the weekend. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This is where the chic crowd feasts on sushi. The employees and a large portion of the customers are beautiful enough and dressed well enough to be models, and they set the aesthetic tone that follows with the food itself. The vibe at Niu Japanese Fusion Lounge is hip yet casual. The beautifully-appointed interior is sleek and inviting, so it makes a good pre-or-post movie stop (AMC Theaters is adjacent to the restaurant). The menu is split into "Traditional" and "Fusion" items. Sushi, sashimi, tempura and wok stir fries accompany less traditional concoctions such as the Sexy Mexican roll (shrimp, spicy crab, and jalapeño topped with avocado) or the Shishito Peppers (scallops, crab, and cream cheese stuffed in a fried jalapeño pepper). Menu items range from around $5 to $25, so this place is ideal for a quick and affordable bite. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Sushi in the Heart of Greektown |
810, West Jackson Boulevard Chicago, IL 60607 United States +1 312 714 1234 |
When you think sushi, Greektown probably isn't the first thing that comes to mind. Well, think again. Sushi Loop serves some of the freshest fish in Chicago and has a steady stream of regulars who are greeted by hugs, often seen at family-owned Italian restaurants rather than sushi joints. Try the Tempura Flakes White Tuna roll, which has the perfect balance of crunch and smoothness. And Sushi Loop is all about balance of flavor, and this philosophy bleeds into the decor. Its interior reflects the international flavor of a sushi restaurant with Korean owners in Greektown. Yet somehow it works, making you feel at home while dining out. -Eun Jung Decker Review © 2007, Wcities |

In this sophisticated and swanky dining spot simplicity speaks volumes. Fresh fish abounds and delights diners. The rainbow Maki is a signature dish worth trying. Eel tastes so much like chicken that diners will second-guess themselves. Raw fish, salmon roe and Maki rolls are an acquired taste. For the non-raw fish eaters, plenty of fully cooked items like fried pork are available. Red bean ice cream is the prefect ending. Review © 2007, Wcities |
