The atmosphere in this 100-year old renovated warehouse is cozy, with exposed brick walls and beams. This gallery focuses on imported art and objects from East and West Africa. The stock is mostly a pre-World War II antique assortment of carved wood sculptural pieces that can serve as furniture or gifts for the home. Owner Peter Mullett travels the continent to acquire his pieces, which include wall hangings, Ethiopian chairs and stools and more primitive figurative works. There are a number of religious items, many with a Christian motif. If you are interested in architectural pieces, browse the palace entryways and carved windowsills. The gallery occasionally offers exhibitions that include such works as West African drums and textiles. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Most men shy away from the word "salon", thinking hair salons are reserved specifically for women, while men are stuck at the barber. Halo for Men challenges that traditional thought. Stroll in to Halo, relax comfortably on the black leather recliners, and watch the plasma television while waiting for your appointment. For $39 get a haircut with a shampoo, paraffin wax, scalp and hand massage, facial toner, and yet another shampoo to top it off, all the while upholding your manhood. You can also opt for The Shave (the old school straight razor shave) or The Rubb (a 60-minute stress-relief massage). At Halo, you will get the care you need and deserve without sacrificing any of your machismo. -Eun Jung Decker Review © 2007, Wcities |

Best Smell in All of Chicago |
1532 North Wells Street Chicago, IL 60610 United States +1 312 943 1777 |
It would be enough if The Fudge Pot offered the kind of chocolate that allows non-chocoholics to understand the concept of chocolate as addiction. It would be enough if The Fudge Pot offered only bars of chocolate rather than the array of food dipped in chocolate which lines the counters. Yet, this tiny Old Town shop goes so far as to offer personalized chocolate not just in an interesting shape, but grand detail. Custom Fudge Pot items range from Stars of David and race cars to the more risqué chocolate items labeled as adults only. While the prices are expensive, a trip to The Fudge Pot is better than a sit down meal, if only just to smell them making the chocolate. -Jordon Corson Review © 2007, Wcities |
