What Kennedy Ashinze has done with this piece of real estate is stunning. The store with amulets, candles, jackets, sneakers, rings, bags, Wazobia masks, tees, shrugs, CDs, books, and more is not your regular corner side shop. The owner/DJ also creates his music, which can be purchased. Look out for customized clutches and household products, such as wooden bowls and leather throw mats with pillows. The stuff is pricey but with such quality you simply cannot complain. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Where good feet meet |
2001 West North Avenue Chicago, IL 60647 United States +1 773 489 2001 http://www.citysoles.com info@citysoles.com |
This trendy place is all about your feet. The sales people are overly attentive, perhaps, and more than one of them will greet you as soon as you walk in the door. Even though the designs are wildly funky and look like products from the Chocolate Factory, some have been known to lose stitching while still young. But, generally, this is a decent place for club shoe fashion. You could say it is well tread by the well-tread. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Original State Street store |

Arguably the first major department store of its kind, Marshall Field's on State Street has stood the test of time and remained a strong presence in the Chicago market. Unlike nearby Carson Pirie and Scott, however, its outside is not aesthetically impressive except for the clock made famous by a Norman Rockwell painting. Also, unlike Carson's, the interior is something to see: The central lobby sweeps up to the roof with glass elevators, fountains gurgle, and a piano player tinkles out American standards. The Tiffany Window, one of the largest ever created, is breathtaking. Review © 2007, Wcities |
