Old and Antique Books |
Nordre Frihavnsgade 18 Copenhagen 2100 Denmark +45 35 38 45 98 |
Antikvariat Æseløret means 'Dog-eared Antiques'. This little bookshop with antique books is on Østerbro, the cosy and calm part of Copenhagen, Northeast of Søerne. It is small and ordinary, and the atmosphere is slightly old-fashioned. Antikvariatet Æseløret deals in books of every kind, fiction as well as non-fiction. In the fiction genre, the focus is on English, French and German authors. In the non-fiction genre they concentrate on History. The selection is not very wide, but you can find fine titles here. Large selection in old shop |
Købmagergade 49 Copenhagen 1150 Denmark +45 33 73 3500 http://www.arnoldbusck.dk |
Arnold Busck is one of the most popular bookshops in Copenhagen. It is situated on Købmagergade, a side street to Strøget and one of the busiest shopping streets in Copenhagen. The University of Copenhagen is nearby, and originally the shop was meant for collegiate literature students. Now it has become 'public', with a special focus on books on art and architecture. The selection of fiction books is large too. Once a year this shop has a sale, and though it does get very crowded, it's a great place to pick up a bargain. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Chain Of Bookshops |
Nørrebrogade 163 Copenhagen 2200 Denmark +45 35 85 52 77 |
Bog & Ide is a large chain of bookshops spread all over Denmark. As the name indicates, the Ide part (stationery articles) takes up a good half of the shop. This branch is on Nørrebro, the part of Copenhagen northwest of Søerne and it is one of the larger ones. The shop is an ordinary Danish bookshop, but because of its size, the selection of books is rather good. There aren't any specialities, but both fiction and non-fiction are widely represented in the shop. The assistants are knowledgeable and helpful. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Best For Children |
Købmagergade 50 Copenhagen 1150 Denmark +45 33 15 44 66 |
Børnenes Boghandel means 'The Children's Bookshop', and that just about sums up this shop. It isn't just any place to buy books for children, though; you can be sure that the children will love you if you buy something for them here. This shop is rumoured to be the best in its field, and the shop is worth noticing. You will find anything you are looking for here. The selection is wide, with - of course - a special focus on the popular Danish children's writers like Ole Lund Kirkegård, Bjarne Reuter and Dennis Jürgensen. But there are also the old series like 'The Five'. Astrid Lindgren has quite a large section on the shelves too. The expertise of the shop assistants is indisputable. Call them on +45 3315 4466. Mecca For Film Freaks |
Vognmagergade 8b Copenhagen 1120 Denmark +45 3374 3421 |
Filmhusets video- og boghandel is a book and video shop connected to Cinemateket, the new cinema of the Danish Film Institute. Cinemateket is situated just opposite Kongens Have (the King's Garden), the beautiful park with Rosenborg Castle in it. The cinema complex, including the book and video shop, is an interesting piece of modern interior design, so you should take a look while you are there. The speciality is - of course - books on the subject of film. The selection is wide, but most of the books are in English. The shop is happy to order books or videos from all over the world for those who are interested. Truly, this is a Mecca for film freaks, and you shouldn't miss it if you are one. Size Does Matter |
Vimmelskaftet 32 Copenhagen 1161 Denmark +45 33 7766 6000 http://www.gad.dk |
GAD is a large Danish chain of bookshops. In Copenhagen alone, there are branches in Illum, at Statens Museum for Kunst, at the Central Station and on Frederiksberg. The shop on Strøget is perhaps the most important and largest branch. The store keeps a wide selection of books, concentrating on new Danish and international authors. The selection of non-fiction is quite good too. Stop by this shop no 'Culture Nights', held on the last Thursday of every month. On these evenings, the shop does not close until midnight, and there are readings and book signings. Review © 2007, Wcities |
