Traditionally Jewellery |
Store Kongensgade 20 Copenhagen 1264 Denmark +45 3315 5556 |
Store Kongensgade, the expensive shopping street by Kongens Nytorv, is home to a small shop with fine jewellery, A Dragsted, named after its 1854 founder. The shop is now run by the fifth generation of Dragsteds and specialises in pearls and jewels, found on rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets. The pearls are from various places: Japan, Australia, Tahiti and China. The precious stones they use include a large selection of rubies, emeralds, sapphires, lapis and opals. Every item in the shop is handmade by their qualified goldsmiths. The prices are high, but the quality of everything is exceptional. This shopping area in general is high-class. Popular Design for Mature Women |
Lille Strandstræde 22 Copenhagen 1254 Denmark +45 33 11 99 30 http://www.bittekairand.dk |
Bitte Boutique is located on a side street to Kongens Nytorv (the King's New Square), at the centre of Copenhagen. It sells the designs of 'the great Dane designer' Bitte Kai Rand. The style is aimed at mature women, and although it could not be called classic, it has that simple, modernist look that leaves room for the wearer's personality to shine through. Daring colour combinations and simplicity, are Bitte's forte. Knitted blouses, ponchos, glamorous partywear for spring and autumn. The 'just plain Kai' Brand is for youngsters. Strict Minimalism |
Store Strandstræde 9 B Copenhagen 1255 Denmark +45 33 13 90 90 |
Bruno & Joel is a fashion shop where colourful designs or quirky specialities are absent. The style is strictly minimalist. Clear, clean-cut and classic, the shop leaves no room for fun. Leather, cotton and pure wool are key words. Bruno & Joel sell their own designs. Expensive stuff. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Alternative Copenhagen |
Prinsessegade Copenhagen Denmark +45 32 95 6507 http://www.christiania.org |
Founded in 1971, Christiania is an anarchic part of Denmark. It was set up as a direct result of the student uprisings of the 1960s. Today, Christiania is home to some 750 outsiders and is a free city, which means that it is not part of the city, the country, or the European Union. It is a lively place and there are always lots of activities happening. One of the original ideas was to have a 'no car town', but nowadays the inhabitants have trouble finding parking spaces outside the district because of the multitude of tourist buses. Visitors should be aware that the sale of drugs is legal here, and that dogs run around the streets freely. Guided tours can be arranged. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Public Transport in Copenhagen Harbour |
Nordre Toldbod og Det Kongelige Bibliotek Copenhagen 1259 Denmark |
Havnebussen is an alternative to the yellow public buses, which often run late on the busy streets of Copenhagen. The harbour is not heavy with traffic, and because of that a route has been created that crosses down through Copenhagen Harbour, from shore to shore. Havnebussen is comfortable and the sights from it are often fantastic. It shouldn't be used as tourist transport at very busy times, though, as it functions as a means of transport for a lot of busy Copenhagen commuters. The end stations are Nordre Toldbod and the newly-built Royal Library, and on its way, the boat passes Holmen and Nyhavn. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Posh Designer Wear |
Holdbergsgade 11 Copenhagen 1057 Denmark +45 33 32 07 19 |
Karim of Karim Design is a tailor who grew up in the Iran and has always been crazy about sewing. His shop is situated just behind Det Kongelige Teater on Kongens Nytorv (the King's New Square). When you walk by the display window (if you are a woman, especially) you have to stop and just dream for a moment. The creations that come from Karim's hand are glamorous and extraordinary. Whether you are looking for a special wedding dress or suitable party wear you should drop by Karim Design (if you can afford it). Unique and personal designs are made to order here. The style varies from classic or romantic to young and expressive. The Danish upper class is united in the opinion that originality comes from Karim Design. Review © 2007, Wcities |
