Traditionally Jewellery |
Store Kongensgade 20 Copenhagen 1264 Denmark +45 3315 5556 |
Store Kongensgade, the expensive shopping street by Kongens Nytorv, is home to a small shop with fine jewellery, A Dragsted, named after its 1854 founder. The shop is now run by the fifth generation of Dragsteds and specialises in pearls and jewels, found on rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets. The pearls are from various places: Japan, Australia, Tahiti and China. The precious stones they use include a large selection of rubies, emeralds, sapphires, lapis and opals. Every item in the shop is handmade by their qualified goldsmiths. The prices are high, but the quality of everything is exceptional. This shopping area in general is high-class. Designer Ann |
Nikolaj Plads 9 Copenhagen 1067 Denmark +45 33 14 81 81 |
Ann Wiberg is a Danish fashion designer who has lent her name to her own shops in Copenhagen. One of them is situated just by Nikolaj Udstillingsbygning. All of the clothes in the shop are designed by Ann herself and manufactured in a sewing factory in Paris. The shop gets new deliveries in from France at least every other month. There is a very broad selection of clothes, ranging from ordinary, everyday trousers to classy dresses for near-royal purposes. The prices are reasonable, considering the fine quality of the designs. Ann Wiberg uses her imagination and often brings new, extraordinary ideas to life in her clothes. In May and November the collections are displayed to the public at a fashion show. This shop has a twin branch on Larsbjørnsstræde, a street on the opposite side of Strøget. Here the fashion is, like the clientele, a bit younger and more extreme. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Designer Clothes And Streetwear |
Istedgade 83 Copenhagen 1650 Denmark +45 33 22 5174 http://www.asfalt-online.dk |
Asfalt sells women's wear on Istedgade, not far from Hovedbanegården (the Central Station). As the name indicates, the style is streetwear, but not in the common sense of the word. Here, flowers and sequins are sewn onto the harsh designs by the two designers that own the shop, Jeanette Pedersen and Hanne Zachariassen. Their individual brands, Urban V and HZ Design, fill up the shop. The prices are very reasonable and you can have your party outfit custom-made here. Just bring your ideas or let the designers handle that too, and you will get a trendy, unique dress. One of their new initiatives is an outdoor fashion show up and down Istedgade (what use to constitute the red-light district of Copenhagen). Review © 2007, Wcities |

Department Store for Baby Accessories |
Frederikssundsvej 276 Copenhagen 2700 Denmark +45 38 89 11 66 |
Borrit BabySAM is almost the size of a department store, with clothes and accessories for children (from newborns to four year-olds). It is located in the suburb of Brønshøj. Although it is a bit difficult to find because it doesn't lie close to the passing road but behind a small parking lot, it is worth a visit, as it will satisfy any needs new parents may have. Their specialities are baby accessories and toys, but the large selection of baby clothes is up-to-date and convenient. In short, you should find whatever you are looking for in this modern babyland. Strict Minimalism |
Store Strandstræde 9 B Copenhagen 1255 Denmark +45 33 13 90 90 |
Bruno & Joel is a fashion shop where colourful designs or quirky specialities are absent. The style is strictly minimalist. Clear, clean-cut and classic, the shop leaves no room for fun. Leather, cotton and pure wool are key words. Bruno & Joel sell their own designs. Expensive stuff. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Popular, Alternative Design |
Kronprinsensgade 8 Copenhagen 1114 Denmark +45 33 32 1999 http://www.bruunsbazaar.com |
Bruuns Bazaar is one of the most popular fashion brands in Denmark. The shop is located in the heart of Copenhagen, and above the shop is the studio where the designer, Susanne Levring, works. There is a branch for men's on the other side of the street. The special thing about Bruuns Bazaar is the quality of clothes, combined with new and alternative ideas. The style is kept simple but varies; similarly, it tends to stick to earthy colours. You shouldn't wait too long before buying something you have found; the number of items in each model is surprisingly low, and you might miss your chance. Prices are above average. Sparkling Jewellery |
Niels Hemmingsens Gade 4 Copenhagen 1153 Denmark +45 33 93 73 77 |
Dyrberg/Kern is a very popular brand of jewellery among Danish women. The real name should be 'bijouterie' everything in the shop is costume jewellery with imitation stones. The quality is really high, though, everything is cast and plated with a thin layer of silver or gold. The reason for the popularity is that even though everybody is aware of the jewellery being fake, it looks a million dollars anyway. The women wearing it feel good, the more so because the prices are not very high. Mainly young people are attracted to this brand, but it really suits any person who wants to create a little glamour. The walls of the shop are naked and white, creating a splendid environment for viewing everything. The style of the jewellery varies, but generally it is romantic, almost princess-like, even going towards the extraordinary, almost grotesque! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Cheap Fashion Clothes |
Østergade 24 Copenhagen 1100 Denmark +45 33 91 11 04 |
Et Toi is a very trendy fashion shop for young people, located on Strøget, Denmark's most popular shopping street. The interior of the shop is worth noticing - soft pastel shades along with a very kitschy chandelier. This is not the place to find clothes that will last for decades, but be sure to be on the latest wave of fashion if you by anything here. The shop primarily sells clothes in the popular Danish brand Nice Girl, whose collections fill up the long and narrow shop. It is a very 'here and now' brand, and very inexpensive. Kaj + Zitta is an alternative children's clothes shop on Nørrebro, the part of Copenhagen northwest of Søerne; alternative in the sense that it is fantastic and magical. This is a very small shop filled to the brim with fun ideas and weird accessories, designed to bring joy to the minds of children. The business was opened in 1995 and is perhaps even more popular with its main customers, children, than with their parents. The founders, two seamstresses, have really succeeded in creating an exciting treasure-chest of special items for children of all ages - including those past 40! Louise Grønlykke is a qualified goldsmith who opened her own shop in 1994 on this side street to Kongens Nytorv, in the center of Copenhagen. She has won prizes for her designs and the Queen of Denmark has worn her jewellery. Louise Grønlykke's specialty is silver jewellery covered with 24-carat gold, as pure gold would be too heavy to wear comfortably. This is combined with precious stones. The designs are inspired by engravings from ancient Japanese weapons and unintentionally old Danish runic inscriptions. These are very interesting collections indeed. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Noa Noa is a popular Danish brand, sold in this shop on Strøget. The style at Noa Noa is easily recognisable, with its loose-fitting dresses and blouses, coats, hats and corduroy trousers. Other specialities are eastern-inspired fabrics combined with the simplicity of the Nordic cuts of the clothes. 'Noa Noa' is synonymous with harmony, comfort and casualness; the materials are kept as natural as possible, and that closeness to nature is clearly what the shop wishes to express to customers. The cosy Østerbro area is home to the unique Samarkand, more of a workshop than a shop. Here they specialize in designing and making beautiful and fantastic hats. The owner imports the materials from all over the world. The style and color of the hat you order can be exactly as you like it, but most are inspired by fairy tales from the East. They are made to measure as well. It takes about 10 hours to make a hat. If you are buying a hat here you will probably end up paying a price a little heavy but worth the quality.
