Do NOT Ask For Coffee |
Kronprinsensgade 5 Copenhagen 1114 Denmark +45 3315 3562 http://www.perchs-the.dk |
Surrounded by Copenhagen's thickest concentration of über-trendy designer fashion stores, this tea shop stands as if untouched by nearly 170 years of history. The interior has been kept largely unchanged since the shop's opening in 1834, and, indeed, the quality, wide selection and intimate atmosphere do not call for a change. This is where the finest kinds of teas in all of Denmark can be bought. A C Perch imports rare teas from the very best plantations around the world, and here the making of tea is a supreme art form. You can basically buy every kind of tea, including, in the last few years, the more modern fruit teas. The tea is weighed as in the old days, with lead weights on proper scales. Apart from the magnificent selection of teas, you can also buy teapots in all sizes, as well as cakes and marmalades to suit your afternoon teatime. The service is remarkably friendly; do not hesitate to ask what tea would be most appropriate for any specific occasion, and allow yourself to be educated on how exactly to make it so that it is just right. Just remember: do NOT ask for coffee! The story goes that you will be kindly asked to leave if you do... Review © 2007, Wcities |

All In One |
Rosenvængets Allé 7A Copenhagen 2100 Denmark |
What do you call a bar, a delicatessen and hairdresser under one roof? Well, right, a circus! And that's exactly what the owner chose to call this peculiar Trinity of shops on Rosenvængets Allé. Standing in front of the complex you won't know what to think, but once you step inside you will discover that there is logic behind this Monty Pythonism. As you enter the delicatessen, which is in the middle of the Circus complex, a smell of something southern meets you. Is it the sausages? Is it the cheese? The hams, the olives, the open wines or just the pure smell of handpicked quality? It is obvious that in this house food is treated with all the respect it deserves, and the customers love it. The row of delicacies seems never-ending and the service is nice and careful. Remember to order a sandwich before you go next door to the hairdresser on the far right. Sit down, relax and treat yourself to a haircut that is oh so Copenhagen. The hairdresser is young and charming, and knows your hair better than you probably do. 45 minutes later you are ready to walk to the other end of Circus where your lunch date is waiting at the bar. The Best in Europe |
Peter Bangsvej 123 Copenhagen 2000 Denmark +45 38 71 41 06 |
During the past three or four decades, many butcher's shops in Denmark closed down. Nevertheless, a handful of famous old butchers stand tall today—among these is Slagter Lund at Frederiksberg. Almost everything here is homemade, including Danish specialities, such as Liver Pâté and Rullepølse, a kind of Sausage made of Rolled Meat. The Liver Pâté has been voted 'The Best in Europe' and the Rullepølse is very popular among customers. If you want take-away for dinner and have grown tired of Pizza, try one of Lund's 12 ready-made dishes. In general, this is not a cheap place, but it is good. The only credit card accepted is Dancard. Review © 2007, Wcities |
