Istedgade 83 Copenhagen 1650 Denmark +45 33 22 5174 http://www.asfalt-online.dk |
Asfalt sells women's wear on Istedgade, not far from Hovedbanegården (the Central Station). As the name indicates, the style is streetwear, but not in the common sense of the word. Here, flowers and sequins are sewn onto the harsh designs by the two designers that own the shop, Jeanette Pedersen and Hanne Zachariassen. Their individual brands, Urban V and HZ Design, fill up the shop. The prices are very reasonable and you can have your party outfit custom-made here. Just bring your ideas or let the designers handle that too, and you will get a trendy, unique dress. One of their new initiatives is an outdoor fashion show up and down Istedgade (what use to constitute the red-light district of Copenhagen). Review © 2007, Wcities |

Second-Quality Royal Porcelain |
Søndre Fasanvej 9 Copenhagen 2000 Denmark +45 38 34 1004 http://www.royalcopenhagen.dk |
The Royal Copenhagen porcelain plant was started in 1775 by a chemist. Later the Royal Family bought some shares in the company, but now the factory is owned by Carlsberg. Royal porcelain is one of contemporary Denmark's most traditional products, which put Denmark on the world map already in 1790 with the Flora Danica set. The set is the most expensive in the series, with its gilded edge and motifs from the Danish flora, and today it is bought by Danes as well as Americans, Japanese amongst others. At Søndre Fasanvej's factory outlet only second-quality goods are sold, and here you might be lucky and find parts up to 50% below ordinary prices. If you want to buy perfect-quality Royal porcelain, you have to visit the store on Amagertorv (Strøget), which stocks all sets in perfect quality. Review © 2007, Wcities |
