Back in 1987 when Deep Ellum was still a place where you could literally see the Dixie Chicks playing for spare change on the street corners and Vanilla Ice valeting cars at a nearby club, the Deep Ellum Café opened it's doors to the starving musicians and the tragically hip, to serve good cooking at reasonable prices in a great atmosphere. After a two-year hiatus, the cat is back in its old haunt with French doors opening up onto Elm Street so diners can witness the evening fashion parade of Deep Ellum or in the more sedate back courtyard with it's vine covered walls and fountain. Featuring a diverse menu including Towering House Onion Rings with Jalapeno Tomato Jam, Maple Roasted Salmon Filet Salad, Apple Wood Smoked Bacon Roasted Venison Meatloaf with Smoked Whipped Potatoes and Portobello Mushroom Sauce and Banana/Pecan Bread Pudding every diner is sure to find something to appeal to their taste.
