Owner Gabriele Barbier-Mueller's space offers excellent food in a business-like, yet offbeat setting. Though hard-to-find for some, this breakfast-lunch spot located in the Centex Building is convenient for downtown workers and visitors. The courtyard features pools of water, granite walkways and an outdoor chess game (chess pieces are two feet tall). The cafeteria serves lighter fare, while an adjoining full-service area offers more upscale dining options. Cafeteria specialties include King Ranch Chicken, as well as delicious made-to-order sandwiches, soups and salads. The dining room favorites include Rib-Eye Steak with mashed potatoes on grilled endive or the Asian Noodle Soup (rich with cream and curry).
