Since 1996, Marrakesh has catered to the Moroccan dining needs of upscale Dallas residents. Belly-dancing lessons are offered on Saturday mornings and belly dancers writhe through the smoky rooms on Friday and Saturday nights. Moroccan memorabilia, rugs, tapestries, mirrors and multicolored lights abound. The traditional seating area is hidden behind transparent gauze curtains and furnished with low sofas. Wonderful specialty dishes include Begri (beef in red pepper sauce), Shekshouka (roasted peppers and tomato salad in a cumin-sparked vinaigrette), and Shrimp Tangiers in paprika and garlic.
