Jewel of the neighborhood |
3317 East Colfax Avenue Denver, CO 80206 United States +1 303 322 2308 |
Opened in 1913 as a small movie house, this theater survived various incarnations, including a long stint as a porn house, before closing in the 1970s. In 1994 it was refurbished and restored but still retains its image as a gritty survivor in a rough neighborhood. The three-tiered theater now serves as a multi-purpose venue hosting a diverse group of national acts, emerging recording artists, and the hottest local bands. On occasions the Bluebird still doubles as a movie hall, showing cult classics and carrying the annual Sick and Twisted Animation Festival. The bar has an excellent selection of microbrews, along with the usual domestics. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The team played its first regular season in 1993 at Mile High Stadium. Two years later the Rockies set a record by being the first expansion team ever to reach post-season play prior to their ninth year of play. 1560 Broadway (Registration Office) Denver, CO 80202 United States +1 303 820 1338 http://www.ridetherockies.com/ |
This muscle-stretching ride is a popular annual event during the third week of June. During the seven days of the ride, bicyclists pedal more than 400 miles of mountainous terrain, surmounting breathtaking passes (literally) and zooming down "only-in-Colorado" steeps. During the evening the bicyclists camp along the route in big fields or in small town gymnasiums. Due to its popularity The Denver Post holds a lottery for those who want to take the ride. You have to be one of the lucky winners to participate. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Outdoor theater performances |
East Colfax Avenue & Broadway (Civic Center Park) Denver, CO 80205 United States +1 303 770 2106 http://www.theaterinthepark.org |
Theater in the Park is one of those free annual events that makes Denver so special in the summer. In 1989, the theater troop began holding performances in the Greek Amphitheater in Civic Center Park. This historic relic from Denver's early boom days had been standing empty since the 1950s until the productions revived the theater. The performances have ranged from children's shows to ballet. However, the theater group generally likes to stick with old favorites. Review © 2007, Wcities |
