Baseball, Mile High style |
2001 Blake Street Denver, CO 80205 United States +1 303 762 5437 http://www.coloradorockies.com |
Major League Baseball's announcement of National League expansion came in 1985. Colorado then began a long and patient campaign, and in July of 1991 Denver managed to snag one of the two expansion franchises. Thus, the Colorado Rockies were born. The team played its first regular season in 1993 at Mile High Stadium. Two years later the Rockies set a record by being the first expansion team ever to reach post-season play prior to their ninth year of play. April to October Games are great family outings, especially in Coors Field. Tickets are readily available. Review © 2007, Wcities |

1400 Larimer St (Larimer Square) Denver, CO 80202 United States +1 303 295 1195 |
This wild event, a rollicking street festival, attracts odd talent from all over the world. Street entertainers gather on the 16th Street Mall and along the streets of Larimer Square to perform and amuse for three days. The acts include sword-swallowers, jugglers, clowns, magicians, tightrope walkers, singers and dancers. In traditional Busker-style, the hat is passed around after each performance, so bring your dollar bills to show your appreciation. All the surrounding restaurants and shops make for a full day of downtown entertainment. Review © 2007, Wcities |

1225 17th St Denver, CO 80202 United States +1 303 308 7000 / +1 303 893 6700 http://www.nba.com//nuggets |
The Denver Nuggets, took to the court in 1967 as the American Basketball Association's Rockets, but ultimately became the Nuggets in 1974. In 1976 the Nuggets became the real thing when the ABA merged with the NBA. Today the team is directed by General Manager Kiki Vandeweghe and is considered by some NBA experts to be one of the up-and-coming teams in the league with superstar Carmelo Anthony. Munich Comes To Denver |
2100 Larimer Street (Ballpark Neighborhood) Denver, CO 80205 United States +1 303 685 8143 http://www.oktoberfestdenver.com |
When it comes to the great German celebration, Denver bends the rules a bit. Instead of having Oktoberfest in the traditional month, organizers opted for the middle weeks of September, due to the occasional snowstorms that bury Denver in October. The festival transforms Larimer Square into a German village and brings out the polka bands, cooks up the wurst and pours plenty of beer. Kids can have fun in a castle maze that winds through the streets and even march in the 'world's shortest parade'. Admission is free. Review © 2007, Wcities |

23rd Street and Steele Street (Denver Zoo) Denver, CO 80205 United States +1 303 376 4800 http://www.denverzoo.org |
This outing at the Denver Zoo is an annual event covering the month of December. Thousands of lights illuminate a path around the zoo and lighted sculptures of animals, many sequenced to make the animals appear to move. Storytelling, carolers, and Santa Claus will make an appearance, but only through Christmas. Roasted chestnuts, traditional kettle corn, hot chocolate and hot cider warm the crowds. Large crowds flock to the festivities, especially on mild evenings and weekends, but the lines move quickly. USD7 adults, USD6 seniors, USD4 children (4-12). Review © 2007, Wcities |
