Family owned since 1934 |
740 South University Boulevard Denver, CO 80209 United States +1 303 777 2262 |
This family-owned and operated restaurant has been a fixture in the Bonnie Brae neighborhood for more than 20 years. With a rough and tumble roadhouse appearance mixed with a family friendly atmosphere the tavern caters to all by serving outstanding pizzas, fine, down-home comfort food and lots of beer. The halibut is excellent and comes with a ton of side dishes. The chicken fried steak is a definite winner, but make sure you do not miss the pizza. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Get a handle on this burger |

Boasting the slogan "We ain't no Chain", the HandleBar and Grill is a popular bicycle-themed restaurant. From signed Lance Armstrong and Travis Brown jerseys to old Schwinn frames, to old photos from the Red Zinger and Tour De France - if it has to do with bikes, it is here. The handmade Half-pound Patties are broiled just right and served on a Kaiser Roll. For less than a buck more, you can add gumbo, green chile, or the Four Corners Chili instead of fries. Weekend brunch specials are popular. Dine here 10 times and the eleventh meal is on the house! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Drinks and music |
7 South Broadway Denver, CO 80209 United States +1 720 570 4500 http://www.hi-dive.com/ |
Sputnik is a crowded and trendy place. Noise and smoke rule the roost most of the time. Though the place is small and intimate, find crowds streaming in perpetually. The bartenders are prompt and service is good. The food takes its own time to show up. Booze is cheap and the music out of a jukebox makes the place even more noisier. Hi-Dive on the other hand is only for gigs and concerts. On show days the place simply rocks. Review © 2007, Wcities |

A classic diner in the heart of the city |
76 Broadway Denver, CO 80203 United States +1 303 777 7676 http://www.hornetrestaurant.co... |
Trendy and hip aptly apply to this happening nightspot just south of downtown. It combines a neighborhood atmosphere with an urban style making it popular with artists and businesspeople alike. Plus, it offers a rocking jukebox and one of the most attractive wait staffs in the city. A back room features two pool tables and a few video games. The menu offers sandwiches, burgers and several ambitious salads including the Mayan. The blackened catfish is superb. Live music, usually jazz or acoustic, fills the air on Saturdays. Casual food and atmosphere |
1066 South Gaylord Street (at Mississippi) Denver, CO 80209 United States +1 303 777 0194 |
Authentic, casual, and fun all aptly describe this restaurant and cantina. With its big front deck and relaxed interior, one gets the sense of being in Cancun rather than in a residential neighborhood. Its menu is best known for the homemade green chile, but also offers enchilada plates, fajitas and stuffed Sopapillas. The daily late night happy hour and late night kitchen make it popular with those who like to taunt the sunrise. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Step inside this longtime local's favorite, and the wooden tables, wood paneled walls, and dartboards will give you the immediate sense of being in an English pub. Matching the classic setting is the classic menu, which offers salads, pasta, seafood, steaks and Mexican dishes. Plus, it has outstanding burgers, which the local press has crowned as the "Best Burgers in Denver." Reiver's also serves Sunday brunch, with create-your-own omelets. Review © 2007, Wcities |

A bar with character |
140 S. Broadway Denver, CO 80203 United States +1 303 722 7844 http://www.skylarklounge.com/ |
If you are tired of keeping up with the ever-changing trends in LoDo, or want to hang out in a place less populated with suburban sports nuts and pretentious urban youth, stop by this blast from the past. The crack of pool balls and a hip track from the best jukebox in town are the only sounds audible above the buzz of conversation; in this place talk is an art form. Without any TV's and comfortable booths-built-for-two, conversation flows easy. Live bands crowd into the joint occasionally. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Classic neighborhood bar |
98 South Pennsylvania Street Denver, CO 80209-1916 United States +1 303 733 1299 |
With small wooden booths, crumpled piles of daily newspapers on the end of the bar, and a neighborhood location, this little gem embodies the look and feel of a true local's corner tavern. A typical bar and grill menu features burgers and fries, as well as several specialty sandwiches, such as the grilled ahi sandwich. Outdoor seating under a large green awning is available, but the tables do fill quickly during the summer, especially with dog owners. Review © 2007, Wcities |
