BD's Mongolian Barbecue

Spicy buffet
1620 Wazee Street
Denver, CO 80202
United States
+1 303 571 1824
http://www.bdsmongolianbarbequ...
This LoDo restaurant is an interesting experience: if you trust your own cooking! The restaurant's thing is to lie out a long, dizzying buffet of edible treats and have you collect your own choices. After you have picked out your meats, veggies, and sauces, you hand them to a chef who whips it onto a grill and cooks it before your eyes. This can be fun. It can also be a disaster if you do not choose wisely. The decor is warehouse chic with a wall of bricks and high, thick wood beams.

Geisha Steak House and Sushi Bar

East meets West menu
7950 East Mississippi Avenue
Denver, CO 80231
United States
+1 303 696 8471
It is not often that one can use the nouns 'New York strip steak' and 'Japanese restaurant' in one sentence, but this little nugget of dining diversity pulls it off. From the outside, it harbors all the appeal of a post-Christmas Visa bill, all of which makes the inviting interior that much more surprising. Besides the usual Japanese offerings of sashimi and various teriyaki dishes, the restaurant offers a huge sushi selection, as well as combo plates like filet mignon and lobster.

From the outside this restaurant looks common and without promise. But as soon as you step inside you are walloped with a beautiful tan and black interior that has a contemporary and sophisticated look. The menu offers an interesting array of creative concoctions like honeydew milkshakes, cheese and egg sandwiches and milk with raw egg to drink. The entrees, however, are true and tried. Ox-tongue with burgundy sauce, Seafood Chow Mein and Chinese sausage are just some of the restaurant's signature items.

Ikano Bowl is the place to go if you want Asian food in a hurry, but still care about your health. The rice bowls here are great: topped with veggies or meat. You can get teriyaki, BBQ, or curry versions with the snap of a finger. The appetizers are also excellent and like everything else are shamefully inexpensive. Try the Moo-Shu Roll for a spicy treat. The atmosphere is bright and clean with decorative touches like lanterns and flowers, but you will be in and out before you have time to notice.

Located in LoDo, Lim's is a trendy lunch spot for the business crowd and a popular starting point for the weekend suburban clubbers. The place separates itself from other Chinese restaurants that serve the standard fare by offering a variety of Mongolian food. The sizzling Mongolian barbecue is a pleasant change of pace, although you can still order Kung Pao, chow mein, and beef with broccoli if you feel more comfortable with the old favorites. Long Binh on Federal Boulevard, southwest of downtown, offers inexpensive Vietnamese food in spartan surroundings, and is good enough to draw quite a crowd of regulars. The main thing to know about this restaurant is to not judge it by its woefully plain exterior. The interior whacks you with a "wow-this-is-nice" surprise and is highlighted by a glowing aquarium. And, perhaps, best of all, this "growing-in-popularity" gem serves some of the tastiest Japanese food in the city. The eggrolls are flavorful and left open on one side so as to allow for visual confirmation that "yes, they certainly are full of pork and vegetables." The sushi bar is outstanding and offers a long list of options.

Johnny Hsu, owner of the wildly popular Imperial, opened this upscale restaurant in an Asian-influenced strip mall to bring the east side of town a taste of his terrific Chinese cuisine. This restaurant is one of the more popular places to go for sushi in Denver. Its menu also offers tempura, teriyaki, and a variety of traditional Japanese soups like Udon, but the sushi is the best bet. The atmosphere borders on chaotic: patrons crowd just inside the door; the hostesses, waiters and waitresses fly around in a frenzy, and the sheer noise from the dining room borders on overwhelming.
