Mediterranean Health Café

Simple pleasure
2817 East Third Avenue
Denver, CO 80206
United States
+1 303 399 2940
This popular dining alternative offers fabulous Middle Eastern fare with a heavy emphasis on good health. It lends for a good stop when running the Cherry Creek shopping gauntlet. Among the favorite dishes are various mixtures of rice and vegetables, sweet-and-sour tofu, veggie burgers, and a meatless chili that makes even carnivores nod with "this-is-darn" tasty approval. All dishes are crafted from scratch and meet strict kosher standards. Fresh juices offered too. Outdoor seating is available.

Noodles and Company

Eccentric selections
2360 East 3rd Avenue
Denver, CO 80206
United States
+1 303 331 6600
http://www.noodles.com
Noodles is not the best sit down restaurant in the Cherry Creek area (although there are quite a few tables and chairs), but it is great for a quick fix. If you show up during the week for lunch, be prepared to wait. It is a popular stop for the business crowd. Macaroni and cheese, and all manner of noodle options and sauces are offered, as are Asian salads and Thai pastas. Be sure to check out the Indonesian, Vietnamese and Mediterranean creations. Beer is available, as is outdoor seating. Other Denver locations: 550 Broadway, +1 303 832 6000; 1460 16th St., 720 904 9590.

This expansive restaurant serves upscale, no-nonsense urban fare with numerous European influences. It displays a very contemporary look that manages to give it a "this-is-special" feel without being pretentious. Outdoor seating is prime for people watching on the 16th Street Mall. Crispy duck, ahi, filet mignon and Rigatoni Bolognese give hint to the menu's diversity. The bar menu offers such items as specialty pizzas and grilled mushrooms, making it an ideal stop before or after a downtown show.

Phoenicia Grille

Belly dancers, too
727 Colorado Boulevard
Denver, CO 80206
United States
+1 303 534 3434
Two words confirm this Middle Eastern restaurant's authenticity: belly dancing. Every Friday and Saturday night, you can enjoy two nightly belly dancing shows (8:30p, 9:30p) making you feel as if you are a North African character in author Paul Bowle's 'The Sheltering Sky'. There is a contemporary, hip feel about this eatery, which is unusual for most Middle Eastern restaurants. Matching the look is the menu, which offers entrees like lamb shanks and Musakaa, as well as salads and sandwiches. Definitely open the meal with the hummus.

Potager

Hip bistro with ever changing menu
1109 Ogden Street
Denver, CO 80218-2809
United States
+1 303 832 5788
Located in the heart of Capitol Hill, this charming spot is small and cluttered with tables. The atmosphere borders on chaos, with the staff flying about in a ballet of food service. Potager, which means "kitchen garden," can challenge the ears with its booming ambiance. But this is quite possibly the friendliest dining spot in the area. The menu, which is always changing, features chicken, tenderloin, pork and fish dishes. The wine list is extensive and the dessert selection often features berry cobblers and tarts—the perfect end of meal treat.

This eatery on Larimer Street has an intimate feel to it; glass fixtures, a unique bar with a copper-topped surface, and the serene ambience lend it a relaxing air. Appetizers include Steamed Manila Clams ($9.50) and Mint-Grilled Shrimp ($9); you can also opt for a Chilled Gazpacho Soup($7) or a Roasted Beet Salad ($9.50). Among the main courses, the Muscovy Duck Two Ways ($27), and the Grilled Hanger Steak ($29) come highly recommended. You can also seat yourself outdoors, on the charming little patio – a perfect way to dine on a balmy Denver night.
