Govinda's Buffet, located in the Hare Krishna's Temple in East Denver, serves up a true holistic dining experience. Lunch and dinner come cafeteria style and only vegan dishes make up the menu which changes daily. The lentil and dal soup are excellent choices as is the vegan lasagna. You will never receive a bill for the food but they ask for a "donation" for the meal service, usually $7 for lunch and $8 for dinner.

Among the favorite dishes are various mixtures of rice and vegetables, sweet-and-sour tofu, veggie burgers, and a meatless chili that makes even carnivores nod with "this-is-darn" tasty approval. All dishes are crafted from scratch and meet strict kosher standards. Fresh juices offered too. Outdoor seating is available.

The decor is bare bones simple, and the clientele runs the gamut from heath nut business yuppies to granola hippies. Breakfast, with the amazing Banana Bread French Toast (USD5.95), tasty Breakfast Burrito (USD5.95), and numerous scramblers, made the place famous. But lunch draws huge crowds and popular demand finally kept the place open for dinner, which feature tofu creations, pasta, and an excellent veggie burger.
