Colorado history |
1750 Welton St (in Hyatt Regency Hotel) Denver, CO 80202 United States +1 303 296 1876 |
This popular tourist destination celebrates the historic year Colorado entered statehood in a rustic cowboy atmosphere adorned with aged wood, rusted iron, and slate. Despite the city setting it is definitely one of those "we-do-not-have-this-at-home" type restaurants. Choose from an array of classic dishes from the American West, including mouth-watering mountain bass, buffalo tenderloin and rack of lamb. Stop in for lunch and check out the theme buffet. Spicy buffet |
1620 Wazee Street Denver, CO 80202 United States +1 303 571 1824 http://www.bdsmongolianbarbequ... |
This LoDo restaurant is an interesting experience: if you trust your own cooking! The restaurant's thing is to lie out a long, dizzying buffet of edible treats and have you collect your own choices. After you have picked out your meats, veggies, and sauces, you hand them to a chef who whips it onto a grill and cooks it before your eyes. This can be fun. It can also be a disaster if you do not choose wisely. The decor is warehouse chic with a wall of bricks and high, thick wood beams. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Juicy steaks n' burgers! |
5151 Leetsdale Drive Denver, CO 80246 United States +1 303 316 3920 |
If you don't mind crowded and noisy venues, the Blue Line Bar and Grill is your best bet for a round of drinks and regular, all-American food. You can dig into a good old cheeseburger, or then a thick, juicy steak, and chug down a few beers with the guys. In case you're in the mood for some singing, move on to the karaoke bar, where you can experiment in the midst of an encouraging crowd. Happy hours are from 3p-7p, and 10p onwards. Texas-style BBQ in Colorado |
471 Kalamath Street Denver, CO 80204 United States +1 303 573 0431 http://www.breckbrew.com/ |
Do not leave the city of Denver without imbibing a tall pint of handcrafted Avalanche Ale, brewed by the masters of barley and hops at the Breckenridge Brewery. Unlike the flashy, upscale LoDo version of this small Colorado restaurant chain, this no nonsense spot occupies a space barely big enough for tables. If you are dying for a taste of barbeque with a Texas touch, try one of its sandwiches, especially the Pulled BBQ Pork offering. It comes piled so high with slabs of meat that it resembles a tiny food edifice. The St. Louis-Style Pork Ribs are popular too. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This place serves as a popular party venue. It caters for private parties, functions and birthdays. The food is really good, especially the grilled delicacies. The Broker Restaurant occupies the old Denver National Bank building and retains many of the original, historic features like the huge, 23-ton circular vault door and some of the original wooden booths. The atmosphere here is historic without being stuffy. The food is worth the price of gold: the steaks are some of the best in Colorado. The menu also includes Rocky Mountain trout, Colorado rack of lamb, Southwest Wellington and seafood pasta. The portions are large and pricey. Review © 2007, Wcities |

It's lucky that cows are not considered religious in all parts of the world, otherwise Brook's Steak house would definitely have a changed menu. Try this place for its fantastic line-up of food choices. The appetizers, soup of the day, salads and the entrees are all exotic ... but the specialty is definitely the Prime Steak and the Colorado Lamb, broiled to the temperature of 1700 degrees. Need something to wash this down with? ... You can choose from 1200 wines from all around the world. Take the suggestion of the staff, they are well-stocked with knowledge about wines and of course, food! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Brook's offers high-end steaks in a surprisingly casual atmosphere. The large, open room is comfortable and the service is anything but snooty. Do not be surprised if you run into John Elway here, he loves the place. Although steaks are the mainstay, the restaurant provides a varied menu, including seafood such as prawns, scallops and oysters. Filet, ribeye, porterhouse, and sirloin steaks are available a la carte. The wine list, one of the best in the state, features over 1,800 vintages. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Two brothers from England traveled America to find, and then duplicate, the best barbecue on the planet. Once they had the secrets and perfected the craft of tasty barbecue, they opened shop in Denver. The sauce, which is the key, makes the joint, and just about everything on the menu tastes good slathered in it. The KC Style Brisket sandwich and St. Louis Style ribs are the menu highlights. Sides include fries, beans and coleslaw. The lines can be long, so you might bring along some reading material. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This establishment holds the oldest liquor license in the state, and it has been in operation for more than a century. Countless American icons have eaten here, including the legendary Wild Bill Cody. Be aware that the dining room walls are festooned with mounted animal trophy heads, which some diners find as uncomfortably distracting. The menu offers some eye-opening fare such as rattlesnake and fried alligator tail. If you prefer the traditional, tenderloin, T-bone and New York strip options abound. It is also the place to try Colorado favorites like elk and buffalo. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Some of the specialties of the house include Chinook Classic Jeeger Schnitzel, Multi Spiced Pork Tenderloin, Grilled New York Strip and Brathehnchen (oven roasted chicken served with tender green beans). Despite the tuxedo-clad waitstaff this place manages to be upper upscale without seeming overly pretentious. Inviting leather couches surround a cozy fireplace, making its cigar lounge a special place for enjoying a fine single malt scotch. A spectacular wine selection (a three time winner of the Wine spectacular award) and a creative menu that changes every week are two of the main reasons for its popularity. The restaurant also has live jazz on Thursday nights, accompanied with sushi and steak tasting. Swim into the Fresh Fish Company for Sunday brunch in a giant aquarium. Well, it least it feels like that anyway, with the walls of tropical aquariums surrounding you. Funny, but it has much more charm than eating a nice steak in a stockyard. The Sunday Brunch is a crowd pleaser, with all-you-can-eat Crab Legs and Shrimp. Most steak houses deem branding irons and steer skulls on the wall as the essence of decor. This restaurant, however, breaks away from such steak house campiness and presents a classy, upscale dining experience.
