Churchill Bar

Elegant English cigar bar
321 17th Street
(Brown Palace Hotel)
Denver, CO 80202
United States
+1 303 297 3111
http://www.brownpalace.com
Located in the Brown Palace Hotel, the Churchill Bar is akin to smoking cigars and drinking expensive cognac in a musty library. Bookshelves line the walls, and if you so choose, you can light up and kick back in a high back leather chair with a Dickens. This is the type of place you would expect to find gray haired businessmen bedecked in three-piece suits, but there are also plenty of young people as well trying one of the bar's 60 available cigars and tasting its fine single malt and bourbon offerings.

Frippery's

Dried flowers, pottery and more
244 Detroit St
Denver, CO 80206
United States
+1 303 388 1743
Attempting to describe this unique shop is as difficult as attempting to describe its name. Immense varieties of dried flowers hang from antique racks and bloom from big clay pots which are arranged in a haphazard and cluttered fashion on a collection of old, weathered tables. The tables, which range from a fisherman's cleaning table to an old jeweler's workbench, were originally just for display, but because so many customers inquired about them they are now part of its inventory. In addition, the shop also sells decorative clay pots, cards and soap by the slice.

Wax Trax

Best local record store
619 East 13th Avenue
(at Washington)
Denver, CO 80203
United States
http://www.waxtraxrecords.com/
One of the few remaining independents left in the city, this music haven looks and sounds the way a record shop should - cluttered and loud. Blaring tunes the radio never spins and stuffed with the latest underground and commercial releases, plus hard to find imports and rarities, this shop is a notable establishment to browse around and catch up on current music happenings. The experienced and knowledgeable staff is always willing to talk shop and offer the perfect recommendation.
