Borderline

Whimsical wood
1010 South Gaylord Street
Denver, CO 80209
United States
+1 303 733 6243
First reaction upon entering this shop is usually awe over all the things constructed from wood. Just about everything on its shelves are creatively carved wood products and include flower bouquets and even a decorative motorcycle made from whicker. In addition, one can find novelty animal woodcarvings, wall hangings, toys and imported women's clothing and jewelry. This is a perfect shop for someone bent on finding an unusual gift, or an odd accessory for the home.

As soon as you step inside this hobby shop, which claims to be, 'the world's largest model train store,' you get an immediate example of its expertise from a huge, meticulously detailed layout. The Peter Pan Principle of never growing up is alive and well at this shop for over 60 years. Within its walls one can find toy tracks and track accessories, scenery items, freight cars, locomotives of every type, decals, paint, power supplies, tools, how-to books and much more. For the true hobbyist there are also brass models and hard to find collectibles.

Foss Drug

Special souvenir store
1224 Washington Avenue
Denver, CO 80401
United States
+1 303 279 3373
Close to a century old, this area landmark is still the place to purchase some of the finest and funniest souvenirs. From scene-laden sweatshirts to shoot 'em up toy guns, this drugstore provides much more than medical products. It has weathered the storms of each season, watching other shops pass through town with hope and heartache, and has even managed to expand its storefront several times. A mural that celebrates the history of Golden and of greater Colorado now adorns an outer wall.

It is comprised of 14 shelves of trains and spans more than 70 feet. Once you get beyond this spectacle you will quickly notice that the selection of over 10-thousand items is second to none.
