Constructed in 1893 and renovated in 2001, Easter Road is the home of the Hibernian Football Club. Its maximum capacity of 17,500 makes it the seventh largest stadium of its kind in Scotland. Located in the Leith neighborhood of Edinburgh, fans have nicknamed it "The Leith San Siro," a reference to the San Siro stadium in Milan, one of the most famous football stadiums in the world.

This fascinating and stimulating Festival takes place in the Spring, around Easter time and lasts for two weeks. It aims to make science and technology accessible to all, through a full programme of shows, workshops, walks, tours and events, plus a special timetable for children and schools. In previous years visitors have been able to chat with Arthur C Clarke, unearth giant dinosaurs and walk on red hot coals. It all adds up to an educational, intriguing and fun day out. See their website for further details.

Hibernian was formed in 1875 by a group of Irish immigrants, hence the name; Hibernia was the word used by the Romans for Ireland. As a rule, Hibernian have mainly inhabited the Premier Division of Scottish football along with cross-city rivals Hearts and the "Old Firm" of Glasgow. If you want to blend in, wear green and white. Matches are scheduled from August through May; game times vary. Check the Web site for complete fixture details.
