6 Grosvenor Crescent Edinburgh EH12 5EP United Kingdom +44 131 225 7033 |
An intimate, family-run Georgian hotel, the Afton is very close to Haymarket Station and overlooks private gardens (to which guests have access). Set in the elegant surroundings of Grosvenor Crescent and with St Mary's Cathedral nearby, this is an ideal central base for those seeking respite from the tourist throng. Not too far from the lovely Blackford Hill park and loch, this immaculately restored Victorian home is a real treat for those not needing to be in the city centre. The rooms are decorated in a classy contemporary fashion with period twists. Bold colour combinations offset by antique replica furniture, such as canopied four poster beds, really set this place apart from the run-of-the-mill flowered chintz. For those seeking the height of luxury, there is a room with a jacuzzi en suite. Review © 2007, Wcities |
