The Teatro del Maggio is home to the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and is host to the annual Maggio Musicale Festival, one of the oldest and most popular classical music festivals in Europe. Built in 1854 on what was once a prison, Teatro Verdi is now the home of the renowned Orchestra della Toscana.
