Fresh fish in pleasant surroundings |
Via Bolognese, 66 Florence 50030 Italy +39 55 40 1433 |
This is a locally-owned restaurant and friendly too. It serves fresh fish at reasonable prices in a pleasant atmosphere and, in summer, on a cool terrace. The best dishes are crostini di pesce (bruschetta with fish), mussel soup, and spaghetti allo scoglio (spaghetti served with mixed seafood). Grilled skewered fish is also good, and orata (black sea bass) baked in parchment. Venus clams and lobster are available if booked in advance. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Good fish dishes |
Via Senese, 271 Florence 50136 Italy +39 55 204 9105 |
This renowned restaurant is definitely in a position to satisfy the most demanding connoisseurs of fish. This is thanks to the quality and particular care taken in cooking and presenting the dishes served. To start, try the Oyster Shot: a Bloody Mary with an oyster inside. For the first course there is an assortment of shellfish, crustacea or Stefano's Big Platter: a smoking frying pan of seafood. There is also the possibility of ordering Japanese style raw fish. The wine cellar is very strong on regional wines. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Tuscan Tavern |
Piazza Tommaso Alva Edison 3 Florence 50131 Italy +39 055 583 881 http://www.godofirenze.it/ |
At the foot of the Fiesole hill in a small tree-lined square, Godò, designed to look like an old-fashioned osteria, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are two dining rooms, featuring a beautiful wooden counter typical of Tuscan osterie, as well as some outdoor tables. The menu, written on a blackboard outside the restaurant, changes daily. Pasta, soups, salads, vegetables and some meat are served at lunch, while the evening menu (in traditional Tuscan style) focuses on meat dishes. Fish is served on Friday including Cacciucco, a local fish soup cooked with tomato and red wine typical of the Tuscan coast. -Maria Frullini Review © 2007, Wcities |

Just a couple of steps away from the main station, this restaurant cooks good fish at good prices, and the service is excellent. The freshness of the fish is guaranteed here because the dishes change according to market availability. Among the antipasti are oysters, Venus clams, sardines and a marinated salmon carpaccio. First courses include fresh pasta with fish sauce, lobster and scampi. Main courses include fish cooked in various, but always interesting, ways. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Beautiful views of the Ponte Vecchio |
Borgo San Jacopo, 14 Florence 50125 Italy +39 55 2 7261 |
This exclusive restaurant inside the Hotel Lungarno offers good seafood and an incomparable view of the Ponte Vecchio. A very original atmosphere, echoing the design of a yacht club, with its staved wooden floors, white walls and tablecloths, refined silverware and panoramic windows looking out onto the banks of the river Arno. The food is based mainly on seafood. Among the starters are seafood soup, pasta with lobster sauce and la passatina di ceci alle code di scampi (chickpea soup with scampi). Then there is the sea-bass, turbot, mussels, fresh tuna pasta and steamed lobster. The wine list offers a good selection of national white wines. Review © 2007, Wcities |
