Located approximately 15 miles southwest of Fort Lauderdale, this campground offers 60 recreational vehicle (RV) sites. All sites sit adjacent to a lake and include electricity, water and sewer connections. Restrooms feature showers and laundry facilities. Campground amenities and activities include a swimming beach, water slide, fishing, a tube ride, tennis, racquetball, bicycle and boat rentals, miniature golf course and a snack bar. Located on an island bordered by the Royal Palm Waterway, Hillsboro Canal and the Intracoastal Waterway, this "urban wilderness area" features an 8.5-acre mangrove swamp filled with wildlife and two nature trails, the Coquina and the Mangrove Trail. Self-guided trail maps are available at the park office. The park can only be accessed by boat, but the Park Department provides free boat service to and from the island. Boats depart from and return to the Sullivan Park floating boat dock, located along Riverview Road and Hillsboro Boulevard. Review © 2007, Wcities |
