Italian pasta large portions |
2215-C Winkler Ave Fort Myers, FL 33901 United States +1 239 278 4600 |
The best garlic bread in Fort Myers is at Basile's, in the Edison Park Shopping Center. The rolls are homemade and very garlicky. Whatever you order you won't leave hungry, because the restaurant is well known for its large portions. Try any of the authentic pastas or meat dishes, served with soup and salad. They offer beer or wine. The restaurant is also open for lunch, with the same huge servings. If you are in the mood for hand-tossed pizza, next door is Taste of New York. Review © 2007, Wcities |

For starters, try Portobello mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat and shrimp, then dig into a 40-ounce Porterhouse steak for two. They also serve pork chops, grilled or blackened swordfish, and chicken. The restaurant is located at Beachview Estates. Reservations are recommended. A children's menu is available. From 6pm to 9pm Wednesday through Saturday, there's live piano music. Little plates offer mostly chicken and seafood, like escargot and calamari. Large plates range from Chicken Pot Pie to Vodka Penne. If you want to dine someplace tasteful and quiet, do not go to The Bubble Room but if you want great food and atmosphere, head there right away. The restaurant is stuffed with toys, Christmas ornaments and other paraphernalia collected over the years. Do not get full on tropical drinks, Bubble Bread and salad before the entrée comes. The Eddie Fisherman is grouper poached in a paper bag and the desserts are heavenly. The management does not take reservations so try to be there when the restaurant opens, or be prepared to wait. Delicious food far from civilization |
Intracoastal Water Marker 60 Fort Myers, FL 33945 United States +1 239 283 2278 http://www.cabbage-key.com/ |
The Cabbage Key Restaurant is far from civilization, but still serves the best cheeseburgers around. Ask Jimmy Buffet, who reportedly wrote his song "Cheeseburger in Paradise" here. The restaurant, located about 20 miles northwest of Fort Myers, is only accessible by boat (make reservations for a launch or water taxi). Technology takes a backseat, there are no fried foods or microwave. Try the grouper special and key lime pie. The restaurant's famous decor is tiled in thousands of dollar bills, signed and stuck to the walls and ceiling with masking tape. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Casual country cooking |
2736 Edison Ave Fort Myers, FL 33916 United States +1 239 334 1687 |
If you have never had deep-fried chicken gizzards and livers, the place to try that authentic Southern dish is the Farmer's Market Restaurant. You will find nothing "lite" or "lo-cal" at this casual restaurant. The meal starts with homemade cornbread. Try the hearty portions of beef stew, catfish or country-fried steak. Each meal comes with two vegetables, like turnip greens and black-eye peas. It does not take reservations, so if you show up at one of the busy times (like after church on Sundays), be prepared to wait. The dining room is smoke-free. Review © 2007, Wcities |
