Live rock & pop acts |
Maybachstraße 24 Eschersheim Frankfurt, HES 60433 Germany +49 69 9521 8410 http://www.batschkapp.de |
Almost 20 years old, Batschkapp is a popular rock and pop concert venue which has outlasted many of its rivals. Other music styles such as heavy metal, indie, crossover and hip-hop bands also feature. Please make sure to leave penknives or anything of that sort at home; the security staff are serious about safety and have even been known to confiscate nail files. Fridays ('Idiot Ballroom') and Saturdays ('Bubblicious') are popular club nights with a mix of musical styles. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Two restaurants and one club in Frankfurt's hottest building |
Carl-Benz-Straße 21 Frankfurt, DE 60386 Germany +49 69 900 20 505 (Event Booking) http://www.cocoonclub.net/main... |
The CocoonClub, located on the ground floor of the triangular U.F.O building in Frankfurt's Ostend district, is one of the premier venues for electronic and house music in the city. Hipsters converge here every weekend to dance to spun or live music in a unique and modern setting. The space also boasts two trendy restaurants: Silk BedRestaurant and Micro ClubRestaurant. Silk serves Euro-Asian fusion cuisine to its guests in bed, as DJs spin eastern-influenced electronica. At Silk, all guests are served at once, space is limited and reservations are imperative. Micro serves guests at tables surrounded by a veil of silver silk thread; images are projected onto this ultra-hip screen in time to the music, making for an unforgettable dining experience. Executive chef Mario Lohninger's genre-bending plates are equally unique. CocoonClub is the place to come for hot beats, cool company and an atmosphere unlike any other. The space can also be rented out for private events. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Constructed from 2002 to 2005, the Commerzbank Arena is one of the world's largest convertible sports venues. The transparent roof gives the stadium an impressive cathedral-like feel, making this a worthy replacement of the old Waldstadion. The Stadium seats over 45,000 and there are several VIP boxes. All jazzed up |
Marienstraße 52 Frankfurt, HES 63069 Germany +49 69 83 9334 http://www.jazz-ev-of.de/jazzf... |
The Jazz in Offenbach society organises some of the best jazz and blues concerts in western Germany. Founded in 1997, the society is a great promoter of the local jazz scene and organises frequent gigs by lesser-known but extremely talented musicians. But the real pay-off comes from its world-wide contacts, meaning that some of the jazz greats get off the plane at Frankfurt and head straight to Offenbach for an impromptu gig. Lucky Offenbach! Night of the clubs |
Katharinenkirche Frankfurt, HES Germany +49 69 155 2000 http://www.nacht-der-clubs.de |
Once a year clubbers can hit Frankfurt's clubs without having to worry about nasty doormen and extortionate entrance fees. A ticket to the Nacht der Clubs (Night of the Clubs) entitles visitors to admission at about 30 of Frankfurts top nightclubs. Free shuttle buses run regularly between all the clubs, meaning that party-goers are free to leave their car at home and drink the bar dry. Some 30,000 visitors a year take advantage of this special offer, which is no surprise bearing in mind the variety of participating clubs, which range from techno palaces to jazz cellars, from opulent ballrooms to dingy heavy metal dives. Ticket-holders are entitled to reduced admission to the Musikmesse trade fair which takes place over the same weekend. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Cabaret and comedy |
Emmerich-Josef-Straße 46a Höchst Frankfurt, HES 65929 Germany +49 69 3399990 http://www.neues-theater.de/ |
After the decline of variety theater in the fifties, the Neues Theater Hochst is now the second oldest variety theater in Germany, even though it was only opened in 1987. One of the most important cabaret venues in the country, celebrated German cabaret stars, comedians and international acts such as Nickelodeon and Les Bubb make frequent appearances. Particular emphasis is placed on promoting new talent, and the Neues Theatre has been the springboard for many a comedian's career. The theater attracts visitors from all over the city, not least because of the competitive ticket prices. There are regular puppet shows for children as well as readings and art exhibitions. Admission: EUR 12.50-15 Review © 2007, Wcities |

Rock and pop in Offenbach |
Waldstraße 312 Frankfurt, HES 63128 Germany +49 69 857 0600 http://www.stadthalle-offenbac... |
With a capacity of 3,000, the Stadthalle is one of the largest and most important concert halls in the Frankfurt area and attracts rock and pop bands which are too big for the Batschkapp, but not big enough for the Festhalle. It also hosts sporting events, cabaret and variety performances. A smaller hall can be hired for company events and festivities. See the web site for details of facilities available and current events. Review © 2007, Wcities |
