VIP balcony on the beach |
Lungomare Lombardo, 24 Genoa 16100 Italy +39 10 362 9668 |
This bar and restaurant has a beautiful terrace overlooking the beach. The restaurant is a lovely place for lunch in good weather, about 10 minutes from the city center and offers quick salads as well as full meals. The large umbrellas guarantee comfort even in the hottest months. This is also a relaxing, peaceful place for an evening drink. The furnishings are tasteful and make the place stand out from the other, less well cared for, bars on the beach. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Wines and fine food |
Via Barabino 1 Genoa 16129 Italy +39 10 59 4513 |
The wide choice of wines, is said to be the best in Genova, and they are accompanied by great Tuscan cuisine in the form of snacks, light dishes and cheeses, all of which are delicious. The environment is relaxed and welcoming; there are hundreds of wines lining the walls of the restaurant to choose from and the diners certainly make the most of this choice! You can also take home gift biscuits, jam and coffees. In vino veritas? Review © 2007, Wcities |

Pub away from the centre |
Via Caprera, 11r Genoa 16100 Italy +39 10 399 3363 |
Situated away from the center, this is is a good place for an aperitif on your way out. Situated between Albaro and Sturla, areas on the east of the old town center, this pub has clearly taken its inspiration from the American writer whose name it shares, with its wooden interior, good choice of cocktails and spirits and period photos on the walls. Leaving the pub you might expect to be in Cuba or Spain or even in a resort on the edge of the desert. It is only a shame that the external panorama is rather more anonymous, not terribly attractive and very busy. You are better off dreaming at the bar. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Beer and nutella crusts |
Via trento, 94r Genoa 16100 Italy +39 10 362 0347 |
This is a typical English pub, where you can find all types of beer. The cocooned atmosphere is peculiar but is good for deep and meaningful conversations. Of course it is not like sailing on a white felucca on the Nile at sunset, but a few pints can often do miracles that not even Isis could have dreamed of. The pub sees a varied clientele, rich, poor, regulars as well as outsiders alike! On Sundays, watching TV and gorging down nutella on toast is the favorite thing to do! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Classic disco with live music |
Corso Italia, 28r Genoa 16100 Italy +39 10 36 7652 |
A former classy night club, this is now a disco in a round building, looking over the sea. The large windows would make this a great place during the day, but it only opens at night when it offers restaurant service and a disco later on. The music is mainly commercial, with 70s revival evenings, and it attracts a diverse crowd looking for a fun time. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Overlooking the sea |
Corso Italia, 11f Genoa 16100 Italy |
Quite squalid, quite dirty and quite a scarce choice of drinks and sandwiches. If the weather is bad, choose somewhere else to go; the inside of the bar is depressing! But, if the weather improves and its a sunny day, this is the place to be; go through to the back and sit on one of the three tables on the narrow, long balcony which overlooks the sea. Out of the centre |
Via Simone Schiaffino, 32 Genoa 16148 Italy +39 10 376 1664 |
This is a dancehall with a small stage where concerts sometimes take place. Interestingly decorated, it is one large room with a marble balcony. There is a retro, end of the nineteenth century atmosphere and it attracts a young crowd, particularly on 'rock' evenings. It has also lately been offering evenings devoted to Latino music, with lessons by professional dancers. Far from the centre and difficult to reach without precise directions. On the roof overlooking the sea |
Lungomare Lombardo, 27 Genoa 16145 Italy +39 10 362 9824 |
This bathing establishment has a swimming pool and a terrace over the beach. The interior is a restaurant, with outside tables for warm days. In summer there is a bar on the roof where latin music is played, and in winter, a transparent gazebo is put up here. They serve draught beer and aperitifs and this is a great place to look out over the sea. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Californian style pub on the beach |
Via Tritone, 11 Genoa 16148 Italy +39 10 39 6585 |
On the Sturla beach, to the east of the historic centre, this hut has been transformed into a hangout for Genoese windsurfers who come here to drink, eat and dance after spending the day on the beach. Californian style furnishings in an open, loft space with wooden tables and black and white photos of mythical surfers on the walls. In summer, customers can take their drinks outside onto the veranda which leads directly to the beach where there are tables and a chance to dance on the sand around a fire. Review © 2007, Wcities |
