Colour me veggie
56-58 Wilson Street
Glasgow G1 1HD
United Kingdom
+44 141 552 5282
This mega-trendy salon is well aware of the competition in town, so have set themselves apart from the pack with a range of out of salon work. Styling for magazine fashion shoots and for television programmes is commonplace and they offer the same model treatment to all their customers. Shows are a regular occurrence and you'll find evidence of this all over the salon. Consultations are free and colouring is priced on a scale of minimum, medium and maximum, according to hair length. You can even try paint-on vegetable tinting for a change of colour without commitment.

Cresswell & Co

Beauty treatments for men and women
8 Cresswell Lane
Glasgow G12 8AA
United Kingdom
A popular spot for the city's well-groomed men and women. This is a Clarins Gold Salon winner and is also honoured by a Top Sante Health and Beauty award. The hair salon cuts, curls and colours, while a huge selection of Clarins and E'SPA treatments for body and face, including reflexology, bronzing, aromatherapy and restorative mud envelopment, is on offer to soothe stressed skin. Most treatments are for both sexes, but the overly hirsute will be delighted (or perhaps horrified) to learn that they carry out full torso waxes for men with a high pain threshold.

DLC

Trendy unisex hair salon
10a Mitchell Lane
Glasgow G1 3NU
United Kingdom
+44 141 204 2020
Many of us approach a haircut with the same enthusiasm as a trip to the dentist, but if you have an appointment here the excitement could well make you early. Clubbers, trendy students, aspiring pop stars, and even some of the "already theres" have their hair cut here, and while they won't pressure you into a look you don't want, anything adventurous you have in mind will get the stylists quite excited. On Tuesday and Wednesday, there's a discount for students.

Glasgow G1 5HA
United Kingdom

Not content with being a first class salon, this small, colourful cutting-edge hairdresser's is also an art gallery. So choose your hair treatment, sit back and enjoy the view. All of the pictures are for sale so it may end up being a rather expensive haircut but who knows, perhaps it will be an investment for the future.

Hairlynks

Afro amazing
435 Great Western Road
Glasgow G4 9JA
United Kingdom

Specialists in Afro and Euro hair, this is probably the best salon in Glasgow if you want a radical new look as it's the first Scottish Afro Hairdressing School. It's tiny but very brightly decorated in a vaguely 70's retro way, which helps you to keep awake if you're there for the several hours it takes to install dreadlocks, braids or extensions. They also cut, curl, color and straighten wayward locks with expertise so if hairdressers usually give you the shaggy blow-dried poodle look, come here instead.

Local business of global fame
49 West Nile Street
Glasgow G1 2PS
United Kingdom

Although owned by a talented local businesswoman, who is the only woman to be awarded the title British Hairdresser of the Year, this firm has a respected reputation internationally, due to its many competition and catwalk successes. Their team of stylists might not be able to make you look like Kate Moss but they'll give you a haircut to be proud of.

Stylist to the stars
106 Bath Street
Glasgow G2 2EN
United Kingdom

When a local TV personality appears with a sharp new style, chances are this is the salon that created it. This is an impressively upmarket place patronised by local and visiting celebrities. So unless you have a lot of spare cash, an appointment here feels like the height of decadence. A haircut here will leave you looking as sophisticated and modern as the salon itself.
