Bali

Bali looks like a typical Chinese restaurant, but is one up on the others: it also offers Indonesian food. Both large and small groups are easily seated in the restaurant's different rooms, and the menu has a wide range of dishes. Besides the (for Sweden) usual "three small dishes" there are many other Chinese and Indonesian meals to choose from. The terrace is popular in the summer as many students enjoy eating lunch here. Also, the beer is cheaper here than at many of the other places around Vasaplatsen.

Bamboo

+46 31 13 6962 This place has daily buffets, and offers both business lunches and dinners. Besides the Mongolian dishes, Chinese is also available. There are ten kinds of vegetables, six kinds of meat dishes, four different sauces, and egg noodles and rice to choose from. You decide which meat, vegetables and sauce you want and give the food to the chef, who cooks it while you wait. The restaurant is large, seating up to 350 people. Bamboo is not really near any tram stops; the closest is Domkyrkan, but it does not take very long to walk from there.

+46 31 711 0239 Situated in Vasastan, along with quite a few other East Asian restaurants, this place is easy to miss for those new to town, but definitely one of Gothenburg's more popular Chinese restaurants. It is also a favourite among the critics. As is usual in Sweden, there is a special lunch menu with a few less expensive dishes. There is a rumour that those who know the owners well are served house specialties, dishes not on the menu. But for the uninitiated, there are still plenty of regular Chinese dishes to choose from.

Ming

+46 31 18 0479 This is a classical Chinese restaurant with authentic Ming design. The rooms are dark green, with a total seating capacity of 150. Ming is a classic on Gothenburg's nightlife. The location right on Avenyn is excellent, and it is easy to drop in after shopping or a movie. The food is classically Chinese, and take-away is of course available. There are always cheaper specials.

Mr Rice

+46 31 24 6020 Mr Rice serves Southeast Asian food all mixed together—Malaysian, Indonesian and Vietnamese. At lunchtime, the guests choose whether they want rice or noodles—or both —with their special. The same thing goes for the evening menu, but then there are more dishes to choose from. Mr Rice is not very far from Järntorget, and it is as a lunch restaurant that it is most popular. But the evening menu is interesting and offers a variety of dishes hard to find at a regular Chinese or Indonesian restaurant. The décor is odd, but interesting.
