The Consulate of the United States of America is located in one of Hamburg's most exclusive neighborhoods on the shores of lake Alster. Affectionately called the "Little White House", this double villa, dating from the late 19th Century, also has a porch with mighty columns. After 1933, the National Socialists used the building as an administrative office. Since 1950, it has been the home of the American Consulate in Hamburg. Sailing boats and rowers can be observed on the lake, and a walk along its shores can be beautiful. Review © 2009, Wcities
