When Mamma Maria opened her simple tavern in Hamburg's red light district in 1905, she couldn't have known that it would still be a firm favourite a hundred years later. Celebrities (genuine ones as well as plenty of wannabes) come here to treat themselves to sophisticated cuisine at mid-to-upper range prices. All the pasta, fish and meat dishes are well worth the money (EUR 7.50-20), but don't ask for pizza, as it is not on the menu! The atmosphere is relaxed, sometimes slightly chaotic, but always friendly. The chef pays special attention to each and every one of his customers, making everyone feel special for just one night.
