Small but tasty |
Koppel 76 Hamburg, Hamburg 20099 +49 (0)40 280 3660 http://www.geelhaus.de |
One will come along this pub only if one is actually looking for it. The 5 minutes walk from the main station are definitely worth the effort because the menu offers a small but unusual and affordable selection of dishes. The Geelhaus is located in a rather quiet street but is connected with the Lange Reihe by a passageway. The wooden floor is really old, the floor-boards are creaking accordingly. In contrast, the yellow walls bring some freshness to the room. Rather unique are the lamps that are made of welded scrap. Every dish is freshly prepared. Therefore one might to have to wait a bit longer. Some dishes combine ingredients in an unusual but delicious way: e.g. spaghetti with cashew-sauce, or chicken-salad with orange-slices and green pepper. Review © 2009, Wcities |
