Fighting sports and physical fitness are very important at the Hankook-Sportscenter. Hankook is the Korean name for Korea and is supposed to express the fusion of body and soul, as well as the balance of opposites. Since 1991, the school of sports has been particularly successful in teaching fighting sports. Children from 6 years of age are welcome to join the lessons, which aim at providing a way to get rid of aggression and support team spirit, discipline and self-confidence at the same time. Sports are a good kind of leisure time activity and they also enable children to stand the daily challenges of Hamburg city-life. With all the sports offered here (taekwondo, boxing, kickboxing and aerobics), the single components of physical fitness are taught - among them strength, endurance and coordination. Training lessons include stretching exercises and gymnastics in order to move every muscle. The sports centre's show team has become very popular with its impressive fighting sport demonstrations at various events and tournaments. Review © 2009, Wcities |
