Swabian cuisine in a former monastery |
Borsteler Chaussee 1 Hamburg, Hamburg 22453 +49 (0)40 511 7877 |
This restaurant is not located in the city centre, but as Swabian and Bavarian cuisine and specialties from Baden are a bit exotic for Hamburg standards, it is well worth the short journey. A closer look at the menu also reveals a choice of Alsatian dishes. The Markgraf is located in an historical building with a very beautiful old stained glass door, which separates two of the dining rooms. It used to belong to Eppendorf monastery. Complimentary goats cheese and a platter of tempting starters provide a sample of the culinary treats on offer here. The mains include game and corn fed chicken dishes, which are very nice and very filling. Review © 2009, Wcities |
