Sip on a refreshing beverage and enjoy the view of Aussenalster, a scenic lake in the North part of the city. This area is particularly trendy but not too touristy, so you'll get a feel for the true European marina lifestyle. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Nouvelle cuisine for discerning customers |
Neuer Wall 50 / Bleichenbrücke Hamburg, Hamburg 20354 Germany +49 (0)40 36 7014 |
Pleasantly situated at Bleichenbrücke bridge, Anna offers exquisite meals for the discerning palate. The chef rustles up exotic dishes influenced by Italian, Japanese and German nouvelle cuisine. The interior is tastefully furnished with plenty of plants and strong colours, creating a bright and cheerful atmosphere. In summer, guests can dine on the floating terrace in front of the restaurant. The regulars include local business people, politicians and high society. With a selection of no more than 10 dishes, the menu is short but sweet. Popular choices include the platter of mixed starters, Austrian meat dishes, Italian chicken specialities, delightful salmon and tender asparagus. Review © 2007, Wcities |

An Alster view and good service |
Fernsicht 2 Hamburg, Hamburg 22301 Germany +49 (0)40 48 7824 http://www.bobbyreich.de/ |
Bobby Reich's spic and span restaurant and café is one of the most popular locations alongside the Greater Alster lake. It presides over a beautiful view, a beautiful crowd and a pleasant atmosphere. In summer, it can easily become a problem to get hold of a free seat outside on the jetty, although there are 250 of them. The staff might take a while to deliver all the orders when the place is busy, but regulars usually don't mind waiting. In winter, up to 100 guests can sit inside and enjoy a hot drink or a glass of mulled wine and the newspaper. Hot meals such as turkey slices, plain cooking and fish at reasonable prices are available from midday until 3pm and from 6-11p. Apart from beer, wine, champagne, long drinks and cocktails, you can get soft drinks and hot drinks. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Exquisite cuisine in Teufelsbrück |
Schiffsanleger Teufelsbrück Hamburg, Hamburg 22609 Germany +49 (0)40 82 4187 http://www.restaurant-engel.de |
This popular restaurant at the Teufelsbrück has large windows looking out on to the exclusive scenery. It offers high-class à la carte cuisine, and is a perfect place for a good cup of coffee and a piece of cake in the afternoon. The extraordinary view of the Elbe and the passing ships is best enjoyed from one of the two terraces. At mealtimes and during the peak season it can become very busy here. From 10am-2.30pm there's an exquisite brunch available. Coffee and juice are included in the price. In the afternoon, cakes and gateaux are on the menu. Hot meals are prepared until 10.30pm. There are excellent main courses with fish or meat and very nice side dishes on the menu, all a bit expensive, but their high quality justifies the price. All the meals here are recommended. A fishy tradition! |
Övelgönne 6 Hamburg, Hamburg 22605 Germany +49 (0)40 880 0445 http://www.fischrestaurant-hop... |
This restaurant has been in the neighborhood for about ninety years and still attracts the same kind of crowd. Guessing from its name, 'fish' - caught and cooked to perfection is the specialty here. With creepers forming a graceful trellis within the dining area, you really might not regret missing out on an alfresco seating on the terrace. The decor is kept very basic, so that nothing spoils the beautiful views of the bay. Filled with tourists and locals alike, this is a great place to taste authentic Hamburger Kümmel (crabs), sip on German 'biere' and gaze away into the horizon! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Restaurant and café in the Sachsenwald |
Am Mühlenteich 2 Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein 21521 Germany |
The name of this restaurant (silence of the woods) at the mill pond in Aumühle can be taken literally, as you can walk right into the Sachsenwald forest from here. The traditional restaurant has a large terrace facing the pond, and lots of hunting trophies on the walls. Apart from a good meal you can also enjoy miniature golf and pedalo tours here. The Gasthaus offers local speciality cuisine. In the summer there are additional barbeque nights three times a week. The wine-list is excellent, and a cup of coffee or tea with a piece of cake is also delicious here - not just on a Sunday afternoon. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Dining, drinking and a chat inside the old station |
Rübenkamp 227 Hamburg, Hamburg 22307 Germany +49 (0)40 631 0431 http://www.schachcafe-hamburg.de/ |
The Schach (chess) café is located inside the former railway station at Rübenkamp. Built in 1913, the place was sold in the early 1980s and became a nice café bar after thorough renovation in 1984. There is pleasant dining, drinking and socialising here until early in the morning. The spacious café and pub seats 120 guests and offers inexpensive hot and cold meals. There are magazines and the daily press for you to read through in the slightly rustic ambience. Mixed regulars with a majority of students later at night also come here to play some chess or cardgames. In good weather the large station square becomes a beergarden. Review © 2007, Wcities |
