American dishes in an old railway station |
Bahngärten 28 Hamburg, Hamburg 22041 Germany +49 (0)40 68 0949 http://www.amtrak.de/ |
The Amtrak restaurant is at home in the waiting room of Hamburg´s oldest railway station. Good, cheap dishes are served here. It's not all that comfortable here, but sixteen different international beers and a number of cocktails are available. A varied clientele frequent this place. In addition to an inexpensive meal, they can enjoy watching the Super Bowl games on a large screen television. A beer garden, which is quite nice to sit in also belongs to the business. Steaks, spare ribs and vegetarian dishes like baked potatoes with different fillings. Review © 2007, Wcities |

American food, but not the fast kind |
Stresemannstraße 374 Hamburg, Hamburg 22761 Germany +49 (0)40 8996 3100 http://www.graceland.de |
American fast food chains can be found everywhere, but real American cuisine is hard to find. Graceland has done its best to change this, and serves up authentic American and Caribbean specialities at reasonable prices. The food is often fairly spicy. Guests can choose from a fine selection of drinks at the bar, and even purchase some of the wines, sauces and spices to take home. Sometimes there is also a treat for the ears, when live jazz bands bring a touch of the Deep South to Hamburg. Examples of dishes include crab cake, Jamaican pork jerky, fried chicken or fish and Deep South pecan pie. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Sandwiches and other American specialities |
Im Levantehaus, Mönckebergstraße 7 Hamburg, Hamburg 20095 Germany +49 (0)40 3332 1536 |
A sandwich consists of two slices of bread and a filling. Sounds boring? Not at the New York Deli, where sandwiches are a work of art. Six different kinds of bread are filled according to your wishes, and at decent prices too. The scrumptious burgers, fresh bagels and delicious American cakes are also worth a try. The original Ben & Jerry's ice-cream (declared the world's best ice-cream by Time Magazine) is a firm favourite, but is fairly pricey. The clientele is mixed, the atmosphere relaxed. A popular main dish is the hamburger with chips and salad for; snacks include sandwiches and bagels; while ice-cream lovers should go for the Ben&Jerry's ice-cream at a scoop. Review © 2007, Wcities |
