Doc Cheng's

Exquisite Asian cuisine
Neuer Jungfernstieg 9-14
Raffles Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten

Doc Cheng's restaurant is located by Alster Lake and is highly recommended when it comes to quality Eurasian dishes. The portions are a little small and may not make it a necessity, but the beautiful surroundings invite a walk after dining here. The restaurant's Asian interior is of a high standard, just like at the exclusive hotel next door. The clientele is varied due to the moderate prices. This restaurant at the Vier Jahreszeiten hotel is not a mainstream Eurasian place, but a place where exciting new creations in Asian cooking are made. There is a fine choice of exotic teas, sophisticated wines and nice beers.

The pizzas here are a regular favorite - known to be the 'best in the country', the pastas too are delicious enough for any Italian food lover. The crowd that comes in is generally a pre-theatre one or then locals looking for a quick and light meal. The sassy decor and the general energy filled atmosphere of the eatery is just one of the reasons for its consistent popularity!

Indochina comes to Hamburg!

Time has come to begin your culinary journey to former Indochina – the current Laos, Kampuchea and Vietnam. At IndoChine, enjoy Vietnamese specialties influenced by French cuisine. In a unique atmosphere and design, the restaurant mixes the culture and food from the former French colony with the modern customs of Europe. While enjoying the view over Hamburg harbor from the terrace, try their famous prawn, duck or spring rolls. Raw food lovers should go for one of their Larb dishes (marinated raw tuna, salmon or beef). The seafood Menu is amazing and won't leave you dissatisfied. Vegetarians will find a great selection of dishes too. If you just want to have a drink on the Terrace, go to the Bar SáVánh that offers special cocktails on Blue Hour during the sunset. For a refreshing adventure, head towards Alpha Noble IceBar in the same building.

They serve modern international cuisine with interestind starter combinations, fish dishes and other mains with a slight Asian touch, as well as very nice desserts. As far as the clientele are concerned, the Luxor in Altona is the hip music in-sene place here.

Medira

Mediterranean food in Hamburg

The Medira is located in a residential area of the popular neighbourhood of Eimsbüttel with its many pubs and street cafés. It offers a choice of delicious Mediterranean dishes. The restaurant´s interior has been given a modern design. In the summer months it is also possible to dine on the outside terrace. A look at the menu reveals that there is a large choice of Turkish specialties at Medira´s. They also offer Italian food and meals with a distinctly Arabian touch.

Refined Vietnamese cuisine

Refined Vietnamese cuisine is served here in a South Asian ambience. The exotic dishes refresh and invigorate and anyone waiting for a table can sit at the bar and enjoy Asian drinks. In addition to a large variety of meals, a friendly wall colouring and comfortable wicker chairs are also responsible for the many customers at this Eppendorf restaurant - even on weekdays. Among the recommended main courses are quail, duck and shrimps dishes.

Ventana

Asian and European cuisine
Grindelhof 77
Hamburg, Hamburg 20146
Germany
+49 (0)40 45 6588
Although located in the middle of the university district, this place is not crowded with students, which can probably be put down to the prices. Admittedly, the waiters are more attentive to regular customers and VIPs, but eating here as a 'normal' guest is also excellent. The friendly service and great meals make up for the somewhat cool interior design. The dishes are inspired mixtures of European and Asian cuisine and can be ordered as starters or main courses depending on how hungry you are. Not everybody appreciates the extra service charge.

Zirkus Erich

The bigger, the better
Erichstraße 19
Hamburg, Hamburg 20359
Germany
+49 40 6887 3033
This eatery thinks big – spacious, with deep, plush leather seats and striking mirrors, it give the impression of being much larger than it actually is. The spirit of generosity extends to the patrons as well. Hooks are provided to hang up coats and bar stools come armed with footrests. Pure white tablecloths set off the dark wall panels, lending a sophisticated air to the dining area. One can feast on a variety of Italian and Asian food; the menu changes twice a week. The staff is polite and move about unobtrusively. If you're planning a celebration, book the function room - it can accommodate about 500 people.
