Anna

Nouvelle cuisine for discerning customers
Neuer Wall 50 / Bleichenbrücke
Hamburg, Hamburg 20354
Germany
+49 (0)40 36 7014
Pleasantly situated at Bleichenbrücke bridge, Anna offers exquisite meals for the discerning palate. The chef rustles up exotic dishes influenced by Italian, Japanese and German nouvelle cuisine. The interior is tastefully furnished with plenty of plants and strong colours, creating a bright and cheerful atmosphere. In summer, guests can dine on the floating terrace in front of the restaurant. The regulars include local business people, politicians and high society. With a selection of no more than 10 dishes, the menu is short but sweet. Popular choices include the platter of mixed starters, Austrian meat dishes, Italian chicken specialities, delightful salmon and tender asparagus.

Kempinski Hotel Atlantic's restaurant is a popular venue for business meals and festivities. As well as fine dishes like lobster, vierländer duck and venison, the restaurant offers impeccable service and a grand view of Lake Alster. It's often worth coming here just to see the celebrities who patronise the establishment, but even if there are no celebrities to be found, the culinary delights and stylish ambience will make your visit a memorable one.

Cölln's Austernstuben

Great fish dishes and clams
Brodschrangen 1-5
Hamburg, Hamburg 20457
Germany
+49 (0)40 32 6059
Jean Paul once said: "An optimist is a man who orders clams without a penny in his pockets, hoping to pay for them with a pearl". But optimists, be warned: it is highly unlikely that you'll find pearls inside Cölln´s clams. You will experience a real feast for the palate, however. It comes as no surprise that clams are the seafood stars of Cölln´s kitchen, but there are also other culinary highlights such as freshly caught lobster. This fine fish restaurant is a Hamburg institution. Well-off Hanseatic people are seated in six private rooms which can hold up to twelve people. They enjoy the best and finest fish creations; the majority of fish here is bought fresh several times every day. Unfortunately, the future of the traditional house is at present uncertain.

Friesenkeller

Typical northern German restaurant
Jungfernstieg 7
Hamburg, Hamburg 20354
Germany
+49 (0)40 3576 0620
http://www.friesenkeller.de/
The Friesenkeller embodies all that is good about north German restaurants-a cosy, rustic ambience and a fine selection of rich and tasty northern German specialities at reasonable prices. The dishes are presented on a somewhat unusual menu, which is made to look like a newspaper. The emphasis is on fish dishes, with plaice being a popular choice. Guests can sit outside on the banks of the canal during good weather.

Mer

Fine restaurant in Hotel Prem
An der Alster 9
Hamburg, Hamburg 20099
Germany
+49 (0)40 2483 4040
The hotel restaurant serves exquisite and superior cuisine and drinks from the kitchen and wine cellar. Whether you sit in the small Stüberl, in the neighbouring regal room with light blue leather three piece suites, or in the garden, you will have a great time here in La Mer. The rooms are furnished in a rather exclusive style. Valuable antiques, beautiful mirrors and high quality materials create a suitable ambience for a sophisticated cuisine. The Stüberl is decorated in a classy rustic fashion.

Just like the hotel, the Prinz Frederik restaurant is an elegant and comfortable restaurant. The pub offers its privileged guests the luxury of high quality-this is shown in the 1870´s décor, the staff and the first-rate food. It is advisable to bring some extra money, your beloved one and a lot of time, in order to enjoy the exquisite set meals appropriately.

Restaurant Calla

Best Euro-Asian creations in the Steigenberger Hotel
Heiligengeistbrücke 4
Hamburg, Hamburg 20459
Germany
+49 (0)40 36 8060
http://www.hamburg.steigenberg...
The pleasant location of this stylish restaurant inside the Steigenberger hotel complex on the picturesque Fleet island is as Hamburg as it gets. The wall décor is Chinese and the cuisine offers a perfect mix of Asian and European dishes, among them excellent seafood and fish dishes. The Calla is good idea if you want to give yourself a real culinary treat and the petit fours are a pleasant surprise.

Restaurant Haerlin

Refined food and medieval atmosphere
Neuer Jungfernstieg 9-14
Hamburg, Hamburg 20354
Germany
+49 (0)40 3 4940
http://www.raffles-hvj.de/
A top hotel needs a top restaurant and the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten has hit the jackpot with Haerlin. Decorated in feudal style, this place has firmly established itself at the top of Hamburg's culinary premier league. Huge windows provide great views over beautiful Lake Alster, a piano player tinkles in the background and the wine list is simply unbeatable. All this could easily deflect interest from the food - if it weren't for the creative and refined dishes rustled up by chef Hans-Peter Engels, holder of numerous Gault Millaut and Michelin awards.

Warsteiner Elbspeicher

Nice cuisine and a view of the harbour
Große Elbstraße 39
Hamburg, Hamburg 22767
Germany
+49 (0)40 38 2242
http://www.warsteiner-elbspeic...
The Warsteiner Elbspeicher is located directly on the river Elbe. In the immediate neighbourhood of the Fischmarkt and the modern shopping temple Stilwerk it makes for a good location after a nice walk along the river or a shopping tour. In good weather you can dine on the open-air terrace and watch whatever is happening on the Elbe. But the grand harbour view can also be enjoyed from inside, and especially in typical Hamburg "Schmuddelwetter" (rainy weather) it is very cosy here. At the Elbspeicher, traditional Hamburg cuisine and tasty international dishes are available at slightly higher level prices. On Saturdays and Sundays there is a nice breakfast from 10am (9am Sun) to midday.
